Tony Battle Next Year...

Having attended the Mary Poppins Group Sales Event yesterday, and now with the announcement of A Chorus Line into the Schoenfeld Theatre, I had a thought about next year's Tony Awards race:

There will be a battle of all battles between Charlotte D'Amboise, one of Broadway's most respected players, and whoever will be playing Mary Poppins, which is arguably one of the most important children's characters of all time.

Of course it all depends on who will be playing the flying nanny on the Great White Way, but anybody else have any thoughts?

And then in 2008 the ladies of NINE TO FIVE will, no doubt, battle it out.

It will be even more fierce if THE FIRST WIVES CLUB opens in the same season.

Stephanie J Block told someone somewhere that she is doing "Pirate Queen." I read it somewhere, don't know where the link is off hand...

And yet Joel Grey won Best Featured Actor Tony for the Emcee but in the revival he was nomatined for Best Actor and ditto for Alan Cumming

FOAnatic - Given that this thread has somewhat led to a rumor about Steph's next show then I'd have to say YES, it most definitely warranted a bump! :)

Though I don't give much weight to random rumors, I do love the buzz.

No chance for whoever plays Cassie in A Chorus Line? It's nice to speculate about who has a chance, but to speculate at winners (especially on the basis of role alone) really is crazy at this point.
