Tony Kushner article in The Guardian

Very interesting read with info on upcoming work including these tidbits:

There’s an adaptation of Friedrich Dürrenmatt’s The Visit, reset in upstate New York, destined for the National, and a likely revival of his first play, A Bright Room Called Day, which the Public Theater may take on. Another Spielberg screenplay, The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara, about a Jewish boy caught up in the Italian Risorgimento, is on hold until the right child actor can be found. Spielberg says the kid is out there.

That's a good article, but honestly, as much as I love everything the man has ever written, I really won't hold my breath waiting for these things to happen. The Visit was supposed to come to Broadway a few season back with Oprah but was cancelled when the musical version came in. the Edgardo Mortara piece he's been talking about for at least four years, and the O'Neill musical/opera has been in development for nearly a decade now. He also had a Barbara Jordan biopic for Viola Davis that had supposedly finished the script for, but no developments have happened with it for at least a few years. I would be so happy to see any one of these pieces in production, but I have learned not to be too anticipatory.
