I didn't get to see the Tony broadcast on Sunday, but saw a clip from the show on another site just now- during the In Memorium tribute it showed a picture of actor George N. Martin, who was nominated for a Tony in 1983 for "Plenty"- I didn't recall seeing any obituaries for him, so I googled, and I found brief mention that George N. Martin died earlier this month- has his obit been on here or on other theatre sites and I just missed it? I am sure longtime fans remember him.

Actor George Martin, longtime member of the Trinity Rep acting company, has died at the age of 80. Martin appeared in almost 50 productions at the theater from 1969-1982, including two appearances as Ebenezer Scrooge in the theater’s annual “A Christmas Carol.”

He went on to enjoy a 12-year run on Broadway, where he was nominated for the 1983 Featured Actor Tony for David Hare’s “Plenty.” And he was seen in many films throughout the ’80s and ’90s, his last movie appearance being “Outside Providence,” in 1999.

On television, Martin was a familiar face on the “Law & Order” franchise, most recently for “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” in 2001.

He was a combat veteran of the Korean War, and is survived by two sons, Jeremy Martin and David Martin, both of Rhode Island.
