Actress Glynis Johns, best known to generations of movie goers as 'Winifred Banks' in the `1964 musical 'Mary Poppins' and best known to theater goers as 'Desiree Armfeldt' in the Sondheim 1973 musical ' A Little Night Music' turns 99 years old today. (She is the oldest living Oscar-nominated actress since Olivia de Haviland died at the age of 104 in 2020.) Johns won a Tony for her performance in 'ALNM' , in which creator Stephen Sondheim once said he had written ' Send in the Clowns' with Johns in mind.
