I guess I'll keep the "10" thing going
Mine:
Beauty and the Beast
Jesus Christ, Superstar
Phantom of The Opera
Cats
Camelot
Les Miserables
Into The Woods
Fiddler on The Roof
The Lion King
Wicked (not sure if it "qualifies", yet, but it is selling out EVERYWHERE).

I don't understand the topic. Surely Into the Woods wasn't one of the highest grossing tours. And "Of all time?" Hello Dolly toured for YEARS with a variety of stars and The King and I toured with Yul Brynner for ages. Joseph and the Amazing TDC stayed in Chicago alone for over a year.
Bwyababe2 hasn't done their homework.
OKLAHOMA! was on tour for 10 solid years (1944 to 1954) and should rank up there.
BLOSSOM TIME was a popular road show from 1922 up until the 1950s when it just vanished.
Of the modern shows, EVITA seems to be almost constantly on the road, as does LES MISERABLES.
On the other hand, INTO THE WOODS performed rather weakly on the road and was only on tour about a year and a half..so how did that make your list?
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

Thanks for the input, you two...that is why threads like this are good. What eludes me, someone else can point out. I was going strictly from "my own" perspective of the shows I happenned to see touring in my hometown, which I knew were also all over the country.
Again, it was hard to keep it at 10. Maybe we should do 15 or 20 :)
Yes, but you headed the list Top 10 touring shows of all time
You didn't label it "My favourite touring shows" or some such.
Top ten of all time usually indicates most successful/popular shows.
I stand by what I Wrote. With 10 and 30 years of touring OKLAHOMA! (1st national Tour) and BLOSSOM TIME (multiple tours) are the top touring shows of all time.

Right...that "is" my label. And if you look at the shows I chose, they fit the bill. Nobody's list is going to be 100% accurate, and that is why input (like yours) is important.. so we can all learn and see which shows we might have missed, which should be top 10.
So...maybe we can bump Wicked and Fiddler on The Roof out of my list, and add yours :]

Jesus Christ, Superstar
I love that punctuation, but it appears to be unfinished. Shouldn't it be "Jesus Christ, Superstar! Don't get your panties in a wad!"
I remember Cats breezing through town every year for about 10 years, so that has to be pretty high on the list if this is about grosses. If it's just a favorites list, then I'd have to say maybe Les Miserables 1st national, Aspects of Love, Show Boat revival and Joseph with Sam Harris would be among the top.
Shouldn't Mamma Mia be on the list too? They had two companies out simultaneously for awhile. Ditto The Lion King.

Mister Matt...my original intention was to get input to narrow down which shows actually "were" the top 10 touring of all time. (yes, that would probably go hand in hand with grosses, but not neccessarily. Just the actual total amount of performances in different cities would be more like it, or which had the most).
