yes i know, but there was a lot of interest in this as it won a olivier award for Best Musical and is very commercial. Im sure it will come to broadway at some point, I'm just wandering if anyone has heard anything

According to the casting notice for the workshop it doesn't follow the same plot as the Fred & Ginger Film nor the West End production (which is apparently still touring the UK...? It's going to Japan later this year I think according tot he website). Its a new book...Can't imagine it'll get up and running on BWay if thats the case...

Sorry, the West End show is going to Japan. Seems to be really successful. Haven't heard anything about the new broadway version for a while...

They JUST did a second workshop earlier this summer (late May to early June or so). It seems like it is still in the works.

But it doesn't have the same story, or follow the plot of the film?! How can they call it TOP HAT? Limited knowledge admittedly, but the casting breakdown said something about the Ginger Rodgers role being 'a chorus girl trying to make it on Broadway'. Anyway, we can but wait.

I'll be saddened if it doesn't follow the plot of the movie. I love TOP HAT, not only because of its wonderful Irving Berlin score, but because I found the story to be so engaging and funny. I remember watching it in my musical film class and marveling at how much I enjoyed it.
