What does everyone think are the top 10 places a theatre geek should know about, visit, explore in NYC?
THIS IS NOT a "best show to see" thread.
A few thoughts in my opinion:
Lincoln Center overall! including:
-Various L.C. Tours. Visit different venues, hear their history, etc. They also have a new "art and architecture tour!"
-Library of the Performing Arts in Lincoln Center (LCT archives!)
-Metropolitan Opera House. Musicals are not the be-all/end-all! The Met performs upwards of 27 operas a year! Founded in 1880, and some STUNNING work. They also have a backstage tour!
-Sardi's
-Lyceum Theatre. Oldest still functioning theater on Broadway. Built in 1903.
Others thoughts?????
Shubert Alley is pretty cool. I love looking down both streets at all the theaters. The ambience is what I like about it.
Drama Book Shop. The all theatrical bookstore on 40th, over 90 years old.

Shubert Alley is great. Never been to that drama bookstore though! I'll check it out.
No one else on here has their two cents to add?
How about the Life Cafe? I think that is a great cafe all theatre people should know about. Or at least anyone who is a Rent Fan. Great, cheap breakfast!
