Toronto Theater Question

Sorry if you have already seen this post; I didn't realize there was a Toronto board and posted on the Broadway board. Are you allowed to bring shoulder/messenger bags into theatres? How far it is from the theatre district to the Greyhound station? I'm wondering if I can see Priscilla in the afternoon, Wicked in the evening, and make an 11:00pm bus out of Toronto. Is the Metro Central YMCA close by as well? Thank you!

Toronto Theater Question

Yes you can bring in shoulder/messenger bags into the theatre. You can put them under the seats comfortably, although you can check them in if you want.

The only days that have double shows are Wednesdays and Saturdays. Alternatively there is Thursday October 21 where there is a WICKED matinee.

11 pm bus might be tight to get to... the Greyhound bus station isn't far from the Canon Theatre where WICKED is playing but you may have to bolt out of the theatre to make the 11 pm bus at the Greyhound Station since it's about a 5 to 10 minute walk. If you end up seeing PRISCILLA in the evening you may not make it to the Greyhound Station in time since it's in a different area of town.

Toronto Theater Question

Thanks - now I have a different question. If I see Priscilla in the afternoon do you think I would have enough time to get to Union Station to catch a 5:00pm train to Montreal? The show running time is listed as 2 hours 45 minutes but the last 5 minutes or so are a medley that I think I could skip. Could I make it in 20-25 minutes to the station? Thank you to anyone reading this who can provide me with information.

Toronto Theater Question

To be safe I'd cab it to Union.

I'd say you could make it in 20 minutes walking as well -if you walk FAST and as long as you know where you are going on the street/where the trains are/etc.

That's pretty tight. I'd book the 6:30 train or fly Porter from the Toronto Island Airport. I did a quick check and you can probably get a one way to Montreal for about $25.00 more than a full fare Via ticket.

Toronto Theater Question

I like taking VIA. It's great and comfortable.

As for the distance, Priscilla is going into the Princess of Wales, right? I used to live next to the POW and it was about a 15 minute walk to Union Station.

Toronto Theater Question

That's too tight of a timeline.

Depending on how fast you walk, it's about 10-to-15 minutes to Union Station from the Princess of Wales Theatre.

Also take into account of a possible late start.

Take a later train if possible.

Toronto Theater Question

Wicked has a 7:30 start time which means it should let out at 10:20 (curtain should be 7:35) so you should have no trouble with the 11:00 bus.

Toronto Theater Question

I want to thank all of you for your advice. I don't think two shows will work, and neither will the train to Montreal (I just wanted to ride VIA) so it looks like I will just go to the matinee of Priscilla, then dinner at Morton's, then bus back to NYC (I'm actually starting in Maine, so it's bus to Boston, bus to NYC, evening performance of Driving Miss Daisy, overnight bus to Toronto, matinee of Priscilla, dinner at Morton's, overnight bus back to NYC, bus to Boston and then back to Maine - no hotel stays!).

On behalf of all of us, I would just like to say that you are completely insane =P Have fun though!

I'll also be seeing Priscilla and Driving Miss Daisy (super excited about Boyd Gaines joining the cast) this fall... just at a more comfortable pace.
