Train Wrecks We Have All Seen

Posted: 10/21/03 at 8:37amMr Roxy you saw The Utter Glory Of Morrissey Hall? I have the album and quite like it. Though it is clearly a rip off of the old St Trinians movies. About the time that opened, in London the Jule Styne, Don Black musical The Barmitzvah Boy boy opened. Neither did well, I wonder had they swapped sides of the Atlantic if maybe their fates may have been better.

Nancy Hess as Roxie in the revival of Chicago. She went on for Ann Reinking early in the run. Can you say, "talent free"?
I can't recall the title, but the musical that Audra McDonald starred in at Lincoln Center a few seasons ago. I think she's a wonderful actress but the show was horrible. I left during intermission.

Marie Christine was the show.
It had some beautiful music but you are correct, the show was a bit off.

1. Moose Murders
2. We Interrupt This Program
3. Murder at The Howard Johnson's
By the way, 41 posts on a thread others thought of as unnecessary. You never never know.

How could I forget...Jeckyl and Hyde!!! That Murder, Murder number with the umbrellas was just too much.
Man of La Mancha. I saw it in DC and if it had an intermission, I would have walked out.

I happened to enjoy J&H very much, especially with Mr. Cuccioli. I saw it very early on when everyone was still fresh and lively. You need to broaden your tastes - new material has to be supported. There are way too many revivals on B'way. No one is attempting to write anything new. Sorry, that's just my opinion.

Hmmm...were you maybe a member of the cast of J&H to have such a strong opinion of this show? I don't know, it just makes me wonder.

Posted: 10/22/03 at 9:52pmI may be dating myself but anyone remember "Charlie and Algernon"? P.J. Benjamin danced around with a little white mouse in his hand. Need I say more? The performance I saw, the mouse took a dump in his hand. Yes, I kid you not.

I hate to admit this, but I rather enjoyed Harold Rome's GONE WITH THE WIND. I saw it at the Kennedy Center. There was a live horse on stage and he relieved himself in one scene and the residue remained on stage thoughout the set change. When Melanie shot the soldier he fell face first into the animal's "calling card".
Sometimes a bad show can be very entertaining.
