1. Do not consider Steel Pier a train wreck.
2. Why some people complain when never starting a thread escapes me
Did you know I saw "It's A Bird, It's A Plane It's Superman ? Not a trainwreck & deserved a much better fate. A truly enjoyable piece of theater. Maybe it needed a sponge. Who knows

I kind of liked Boys from Syracuse.
But that's the beauty of theater, isn't it....such a spectrum of likes and dislikes. And of course, the occasional, indisputable, flat out bomb.

Posted: 10/20/03 at 7:32pmNo one is mentioning THOU SHALT NOT. I used to think MOLLY was the all-time worst show I'd ever seen, but THOU SHALT NOT had it beat by a mile!!!

Posted: 10/20/03 at 7:40pmAh, "Molly" . I just thought of "The Utter Glory of Morrisey Hall", "Got Tu Go Disco (correction as per Mr Namo) & Rachel Lily Rosenbloom - A turkey in bowling is 3 strikes in a row. These were real gobblers

I can't believe Steel Pier was a train wreck, it seems great on album...I guess the story is a little far fetched?

#17Thou Shalt No, yes,
Posted: 10/20/03 at 8:30pmSometimes we need others to refresh our memories. I agree with the assertion re THOU SHALT NOT was a potential ultimate stinker, because the creators were such talents -- Stroman, Connick, and that company of performers, all wasted, with the exception of Butz, who managed to score. You expect more from such components. But Crawford's return aside, didn't we all have zero expectations of VAMPIRES? So in a way, it was ... predictably bad. Then you have shows like CARRIE, which had some of the most embarrassing material ever presented (the pig blood hunt) ... and also Betty Buckley breaking your heart singing "When There's No One.." on an empty stage. To me, a real train wreck can't have such moments. CARRIE is easily picked apart in hindsight ... but you know what? It had riveting components. It had real ambitions, some high style in places, and some exquisite stuff (the mom/daughter duets) in the score. Anyone who owns a bootleg copy -- many are in circulation -- can play you stuff that is unforgetable.

Posted: 10/20/03 at 8:46pmSpell checks don't catch when people get titles wrong. What you spelled was correct. What you called the show was simply incorrect.

Just ignore Nacho like everyone else. Sonner or latter he'll blow away.
My worst train wreck was the Chita Rivera review called "Chita...And All That Jazz."
It belonged on a cruise ship.

Steel Pier does sound good on cd, but on stage it was horrible.
Karen Ziemba was not ready to handle being the star of a show. The show did not pick up energy until Debra Monk sang "Everybody's Girl" and then it dropped like a rock. The end of act one had the entire cast running around in a circle. It's supposed to be the moment when you should be putting the audience on pins and needles so they will come back for Act 2.
The show sounded like a good idea on paper, but it was just a mishmash that got lost on stage.

Oh I do not believe it. I agree with Dolly.
I also hated Thou Shalt Not but the cast was divine.
Craig Bierko. Need I say more? Norbert.
So it was a small train wreck.
Where is Craig these days. I have not seen him since his small role at Playwrights Horizons.
I really hated Adult Entertainment. I think that was the worst show I have seen.
