Ask "average America" if they know who Harvey Fierstein is.
Then ask them if they know who John Travolta is.
Better yet... ask the WORLD, because movies play in an international market, not just the U.S.

The average American knows who Paris Hilton is, too, that doesn't mean they will spend money to see her in a movie or that she is right for any role.
PEACE.

Perhaps they cast Travolta because, gasp, he's actually good in the role?

I'm always disgusted by how much the world does, in fact, want to see Paris Hilton.
Maybe SHE should play Amber.

IF they don't cast all of the original cast members I'm going to boycott the film. If they don't get my 9 bucks, it'll tank.

Well, I'm excited.

If they alter one key for a song, or cut one lyric, I'm just NOT GOING to see it.
It'll tank then, I KNOW it.

Well everyone knows that corine, bobbybubby, and best12 make or break the box office nowadays.
If they don't use everyone of Ivey Long's costumes I will not be going either. And it better be filmed on the stage of the Neil Simon.

I'm counting sequins, I tell you, and if JUST ONE is missing... or if Fender parts his hair on the wrong side... THAT'S IT. I'm walking out and demanding my $75 back. (L.A. prices, don'tcha know.)

Travolta better say the lines exactly like Harvey, wear a Harvey mask, and start smoking 10 packs a day to get in shape for the role.

Sorry, but I'll catch this one when it pops up on cable. I wouldn't pay a dime to see it with this cast -- and I love the stage show.

They might as well throw in the towel now.

I think we should email this thread to the producers, and maybe they'll stop production NOW.

I agree about Latifah. I LOVED her Mama Morton. She'll be able to act the role and she sure looks the part, but she can't sing I Know Where I'm Going.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

Hopefully the Guys and Dolls film will have the original Broadway cast.

If Fender doesn't stuff his sock with the same exact brand of sock it's sure to flop. Also - if the temperature of the oil used to cook the chicken for the chicken and waffles in the film isn't 375 it will also flop!

I'll see it, so forget you suckahs! They'll be very happy to know that they will be getting Kitzy's $7.50!!!

I knew it would be Latifah.

No one is saying they have to use the original cast, but when they replace Harvey's Tony winning role, a role he was born to play, to Travolta of all people...I would not have had a problem with John Goodman or Michael McKean, and what happened to Patti La belle? Aretha Franklin? Christ, even Whoopi would be more believable acting the role than Latifah (sure they could dub the voice.)
PEACE.

Isn't Queen Latifah too young to play "Motormouth". I'm willing to have an open mind but couldn't they find someone more age appropriate? What about Diana Ross? She can sing.

They wanted an "ample american". Of course, there's nothing saying you couldn't load up Diana or anyone else with makeup and padding..
