"Trick" in She Loves Me

In the first act of She Loves Me, the actors place a series of boxes into a larger box during one of the songs, and at the end of the song, the box is turned upside down and out comes a wrapped group of boxes.

Could someone explain how the trick is done?

So the actor fills the one half with the "free boxes" during the song. When he opens the box from the other end, the stacked boxes are already put together in that half and they come out all tied together!
