On their website, what exactly does "photo repro" mean? I'm assuming it's a reprint of the original poster. If so, why are so many of them $125.00? That seems a bit steep.
It means they use a photo of a poster to reproduce it after it goes out of print. I don't know why it's $125 a pop. Probably because they can.
What's more, why are so many recent posters out of print already?
I also know that you can go on Ebay and find photo repros from Applause online cheaper. They're overpriced for most of their posters, but the repros they usually sell at $10 starting bid. Trouble is, they don't tell you they're repros. I found out the hard way.
Is there some kind of stipulation that says posters cannot be reproduced unless by photo after the show closes and the original posters sell out? How strange.
No, I think it's just up to the individual producers as to whether or not they want to keep the poster in print. I know some shows from last season are out of print already, but some older shows are still readily available.
