What theatre's stage door is that? The Neil Simon's?

True Confessions of a Broadway Actor is a first for Broadway.com—a funny and insightful new column written by a real Broadway performer who prefers to be known simply as "Anonymous." Over the next couple of months, Anonymous will give you a peek into the life of a Broadway thespian and will offer insights on everything from the terrors of auditioning to the ins and outs of life on the Rialto. This is not a work of fiction. Yes, Anonymous is a real working Broadway performer that you most likely already know and love. And no, we're not telling you who it is!

Well, yeah, of course performers always post anonymously, but that's not exactly the same thing. This person is clearly a real writer--the piece is very funny. And the ABC's of Broadway thing is hilarious.

Cute
Now if we only knew who had an opening monologue in a Broadway show right now we could totally figure out who this was re: True Confessions of a Broadway Actor

"Stage Door: The actor's only way in or out of the theater. Actors caught using an unauthorized exit, even to avoid stalkers or electrical fire, may be crucified legally online. Equity is working on making this its second bylaw."

I don't know who it is, but i have a feeling it will always be anonymous.

I do think it's a man, though.

yeah, I don't know many women who shave their legs in a sink 30 minutes before show-time
Not that it doesn't happen, but still...

none of the above, socute... My comment wasn't meant to be condescending at all. I just mean this is written like a column, not offhand comments on a message board. Why so abrasive?

They did mention that specifics would be changed to keep anyone from guessing. So the opening monologue idea is probably false. However Christian Borle has one technically in Spamalot. Although for some funny odd reason my first thought when I started reading was: Barrett Foa. Don't know why, he just sprang to mind.

Barrett's hair is real though (although sometimes in pictures it's too pretty to be true)
None of the Q actors wear wigs to my knowledge
I also think it may be Christian

I know they mentioned stuff about wigs etc. But there are changing specifics to throw people off. So it could be anyone.

btw. Broadwaystar2b I love your icon :) Barrett's hair makes me happy!

Aw thank you! re: True Confessions of a Broadway Actor
It's an ad for the charity "God's Love We Deliver" which sends food to people living with AIDS and cancer
They're having a race on Nov.20 to raise money, hence the "Get Racy slogan" (more info at www.barrettfoa.com re: True Confessions of a Broadway Actor)

I keep thinking it's pretty likely that they'd take a picture of a different stage door just to hide the person's identity.

First post, and I'm reviving a freakin' 3 year old thread. Oh well! I just recently discovered this column, and I have to say, I really think Anonymous was Christian Borle. What with the Batman references and the general snarky, funny tone, it just sounded like other interviews I've heard him give.

Okay, off to find a more relevant thread in which to post! re: True Confessions of a Broadway Actor

Wow, this is a blast from the past! I often wonder about this column from time to time. Did we ever get a definitive answer?

Other than that, did you enjoy the play Mrs Lincoln?

Hello. I had not heard of this column before. Some of the comments come off as a bit snarky, but generally amusing and informative. Then, as I scroll down, I became aware that the columns were from 2005. Hmmm. from RC in Austin, Texas

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
