Two Valli's

Why? Both have already portrayed the role and have proven they don't need an alternate. Wouldn't this just increase operating costs?

There has ALWAYS been an alternate Frankie Valli, ever since JLY won the Tony. It's just that this is the first time (outside of Las Vegas) they're splitting it 4/4. It's usually 6/2.

Also, I don't believe Perez has ever been a 6-show Frankie, but someone please let me know if I'm wrong.

To be honest I never knew the role had an alternate. Still seems weird that they are doing 4/4.

Apparently.

The first alternate was Michael Longoria, and he pulled off the rare feat of playing Pesci the other 6 performances. I'm pretty sure the only time a Broadway Frankie did all 8 shows after that was the first time JLY came back, in 2012. Most 6-show Frankies started out as 2-show Frankies.

Las Vegas started out with Rick Faugno and Joseph Leo Bwarie splitting it 6 and 2. Bwarie left for the tour and I think either Scaglione or Travis Cloer came in to replace him as the alternate. Eventually Faugno and Cloer split it 4 and 4 (Faugno said in his solo show it was partially due to the Vegas air), and it's been that way ever since.
