I am the type of person who needs to know what each show is performing in advance. I only like to be surprised for shows I haven't seen.
When are shows going to start announcing what they will perform!?
I know! I can not wait to hear!

Do they announce it at all, or do they prefer to surprise people? For the life of me I can't remember if they announced the performances last year...
I know some shows did. I'm pretty sure I read about what GYPSY was going to perform, and I read that DEF POETRY JAM was performing as well as BILLY JOEL.

I was just thinking about this today. Last year, I remember reading/hearing that Bernadette would be performing at least a week before the telecast. I think if a nominated musical is still open and up for Best Musical or Revival, they'll perform a number.

Have they announced more of the presenters yet?

Ah, you're right. I remember the announcement that Peters would perform "Rose's Turn." I guess if they're going to make announcements they'll probably start in a week or so, but that's purely speculation on my part.

Thanks Fan2.
I LOVE Carol Bayer Sager. "Don't Cry Out Loud" is one of my faves as is "Arthur's Theme." :o)

Hugh Jackman is opening the show with Everything Old Is New Again, as himself with the Rockettes. Later in the presentation there will be The Boy From Oz segment introduced by Nicole Kidman.

Actually, I heard Jackman's opening number won't be from BFO at all. That might assuage any "grumblings" about BFO getting 2 numbers to every other show's 1. Though I really think Riedel is making those grumblings up just because he's Riedel.
I believe that the reason that he (Jackman) is doing the number as himself is to mainly to appease some of the other shows that felt they weren't getting their due time, however you maybe right, I read this last week.

Nicole Kidman to introduce THE BOY FROM OZ ?! The other shows may demand equal attention and an A-list Hollywood star to introduce their numbers ![]()
Do they make this fuss every year?
The host for SIRIUS Broadway's Best channel this afternoon said that the opening number for the Tonys will be Jackman singing "One Night Only." He claimed this was "99% accurate" according to his sources.

No matter what - Hugh Jackman is a walking and singing advertisement for THE BOY FROM OZ. And he will get viewers' attention for a lot of time during the entire show.
Sorry, but what is ONE NIGHT ONLY ?

If I'm not mistaken, "One Night Only" is one of Effie's big numbers in the latter half of "Dreamgirls". Then again, I could very well be mistaken. It wouldn't be the first time. Nor the last. ![]()
At any rate, which shows will be performing at the Tonys?
Love,
Joshie

The ones that were nominated for best musical and revival.
Wicked will do Defying Gravity. I have heard from a reliable source that the song is being reorchestrated to fit the time constraints. Updated On: 5/24/04 at 01:41 AM

If you look at the "class picture" of the nominees on the Tony Awards website at www.tonyawards.com, "One Night Only" is also written on the posters/ads for the awards.

Yes, that looks like the theme for the June 6 event.
