Any word on the casting? The website does not have any information. I don't think Josh or Nick are coming back. My theater announced presale but I don't want to buy tickets unless there is information about the cast.

Neither Josh or Nick were still apart of the tour when the show shutdown in 2020. Jean Val Jean and Javert were being playing by Patrick Dunn and Preston Truman Boyd, respectively. On a recent Instagram post from Emily Kristen Morris, Preston commented “bummed you won’t be on the barricade…” So I think it’s safe to assume he’ll back. Not sure about Dunn.

Patrick has hinted on coming back pretty often the past year but I know he's been busy being a popular Elvis impersonator (He literally was on the red carpet with Priscilla at the movie premiere )
Nick left in late 2019 I believe and was replaced by Patrick .
Hope to see Jillian Butler back . She was lovely when I saw her in 2018 and I was at her last show when she was in Wicked !

While this new production of Les Miserables has never been my favorite (I just much prefer to original iconic turntable staging), I still look forward to seeing it again in Durham. Last time I saw Les Miserables was years ago when the last revival was at the Imperial, so I am long overdue for another visit.

Cast has been announced. I for one am so excited for this. Nick was great pre-covid the last time Les Mis came through Detroit. This is my favorite show and will jump at any chance to see it. I'm going three times during the Detroit run in Dec/Jan. Can't wait!

Glad to see Nick and Steve back ! I saw Steve go on for Valjean in 2018 and he was fantastic ! I know a few friends who saw him as Javert and they were raving on how great he was ! I met Nick on Zoom back in April 2020 on an event I facilitated with some former Phantom tour alums. Was shortly after his daughter was born and he showed her on camera . Very nice guy ! Hope I can see him this time !

So I’m curious, have folks here gotten a chance to see this company and touring production yet? And if so what were your thoughts/feelings?
I’ve now seen it twice in Philadelphia, and have some mixed thoughts on a few things and am curious what other folks are feeling.

Yes. Just saw it on Thursday . I thought Nick was wonderful . He played Valjean a little more gentle than Ramin and Steve Czarnecki who I saw last time but he still had the commanding voice and caring presence as a father (helps as he has a young daughter ) and boss. Was so great for finally meet him in person too afterwards ! (Stage door was well alive and well which was nice to see ! )
Fantine had one of the most gorgeous voices ever . Eponine I thought sounded just like Lea Salonga (I wasn't surprised that she also played Kim according to her bio in the playbill ). Cosette was great too. Madame Thernlander was the most hilarious one I've seen out of the 3 I've seen .
The crazy thing was the show started 2 mins early (I got there about 4 mins early due to traffic and they wouldn't the dozens of people who were in line to get in until after the prologue and we were all stuck watching it through the cracks . I got there 10 mins later for Something Rotten in 2018 and they let me in fine ! Thankfully , it was my 3rd time seeing the show and grew up on the 10th anniversary concert so I knew what was happening 🤣
Was so great to see the show again . Think it was supposed to come here right when the shutdown hit in 2020 with most of the cast I saw in 2018 (I was really looking forward to seeing Jillian Butler again and see Patrick Dunn who seems to be busy as hell now as an Elvis impersonator as Valjean ) . Was a treat though to see a completely different principal cast though to now saw I saw it with 3 different casts ! As I said before , of course I was so happy to finally see Nick as I missed him last time and have been following him online since his Phantom days (As he was also on a zoom event I facilitated at the beginning of the pandemic )

Curious what your thoughts are, as I finally saw it. To add on to what was said above, they were very prompt in the start time. They made the announcement about turning off phones, the music immediately started, and I looked down at my watch and it was only 759.
This was my second time seeing Nick cartel as Valjean, I saw him pre-pandemic in the role. My thoughts are a little different than the person above me. I actually thought he was more aggressive in certain parts than I’m used to, but I’m used to listening to the international recording. I think Nick channelsmore of the traumatized, gruff, Valjean at times. His ‘bring him home’ was phenomenal, an audience member shouted ‘bravo’ right after he finished and he probably got a one or two minute round of applause for it. I thought all of the cast sounded amazing, and I think the majority of my groups are with the staging, which can’t be helped. I don’t really care for some of the issues with the barricade, Gavroche’s death, and a few of the other changes they have made (Empty chairs with no empty chairs?). I was definitely glad I went and it’s definitely worth seeing. My other gripe is just with the speed of the music, I can’t stand how sped up everything is now and the transitions are. I fully understand why they have to clock in under three hours, but it just feels rushed every time I’ve seen it, but I know that is not the fault of the cast.
