I just got my acceptance to the Hartt school today and I am very excited. I also got into Point Park and Baldwin-Wallace and what I want to know is, what is your take on these schools. I am very interested in Hartt cos it is a campus and I would thrive better in that sort of environment than say PPU...
Any advice would be great...

Thank you.
do you know what they focus the most on? I've heard acting which I'm very happy about. But is it true that their dancing is kind of off?

I really wouldn't go too much on what all of us might say - some on here may have had bad experiences that might cloud your judgement more than those who have had good experiences of it. At the end of the day, no one place is perfect; they all have their stengths and weaknesses - if you are talented enough then you will be able to overcome their weaknesses.

Posted: 4/14/06 at 1:31pmthe hartt school only has one dance class a week, and the focus of the music is geared toward the classical- rodgers and Hammerstein, cole porter, Burton Lane. there is nothing wrong with that at all, but if you are looking for a more contemporary setting, I wouldn't focus on Hartt.

Hello, I disagree with Pippin about Hartt. The program does NOT have one dance class a week. 10 years ago when the program started yes, now a student can have typically 6 actual class days of dance. Voice teachers at Hartt also focus freshman and sopmore year on the classical golden age musical tehatre rep because it is not the strengths of most students. A lot of the students that graduate from hartt are well educated in both modern and classical singing. Point Park has a great dance program, but is a really really small school. When visited it I liked it except it was only two schools. I don't know much about BWU, the program I know is really changed from the better but don't know any alumni. Good Luck! Post if you have any other questions!
