I don't know if this idea has been put forth, but I'd really like to see a Ms. Congeniality Musical with Stephanie J. Block as Grace Hart. It falls in the unpopular category because people keep bitching about how they don't want another campy movie-to-musical adaptation.
Kate Shindle's belting is really rough on my ears. Ouch
"There's nothing good on. The media hates Christmas. The media loves vampires, though. Maybe they will show a Twilight Christmas." -Danmeg's 10 year old son.
I don't think Bernadette Peters is aging as well as everyone says she is. She looks younger than she is, but is starting to look pinched around the mouth.
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

This isn't Broadway, but I think Dollywood is fun!

MichaelUK92 - I agree entirely! 9 to 5 was a lot of fun - the set was great, the choreography was nostalgic yet fresh and the performances were spot on.
I like Wicked a lot and think they deserve(d) more credit than they got/get.
I thought Billy Elliott was boring. A really human and endearing story lost in bland music that never "pays off". Plus the set is awful - framing a larger than life space for a small human story. The end was pathetic - "Okay, well we'll have Michael go out center on his bike. Billy says goodbye and walks off into the audience. Then to pull the audience back in from the less than dramatic and stale ending - we'll work up a long dance number that makes them forget some of the lamest moments in musical theatre that they just suffered through. Perfect. Now off to design that spiral stair case/bedroom piece."
Next to Normal is FAR superior both musically and dramatically to BE.
NDR; you're my soul mate! that's basically everything i think, and more! i laughed out loud at your comment about the bedroom set. lol
i just don't see what people see in billy, yeah he wants to dance. great. n2n speaks such truth through music it's so beautiful and tragic. it truly deserved, and needs the tony more. i'm still bitter about that as you can tell. lol
you bascially have my mind. i didn;t have expectations for 9to5, but it was so much fun! i loved every moment, and that set was absoultly GREAT! and a score that was uplifting and fun. it deserved more than it got, and is still getting.

The Rock Musical is one of the greatest art-forms our society has to offer.

Kristoffer Cusick- I never understood why he was recycled so much as Fiyero in "Wicked." His voice is too high pitched and nasal. He also got very bored with the role after a while.
Lance Bass- His attitude grates on me. He also puts the "Uh" in UGLY. His voice, dancing, and acting are nothing special. All he cares about is being in the media.
Victoria Matlock- I know there are a lot of peole who aren't crazy about her portrayal of Elphaba. However, there are some fans who think she's out of this world amazing, but she really isn't. Sometimes, her voice can be too shrieky and her acting lacks vulnerability. She did improve though when she did "Marvelous Wonderettes"
Brooke Tansley (from Beauty and the Beast)- I got tired of people saying, "Oh she's so sweet and talented." She really wasn't that amazing either. Plus, she took nude and other innapropriate pictures of herself. If you play a character like Belle you have to be a good role-model.
Clay Aiken- His voice is all right, but his acting is way over the top. His attitude is also annoying.
-I enjoyed jekyll and hyde -I don't think andrew lloyd webber is a genious, and I know he's never wrote a song in his life, but I am still entertained by his shows -I prefered the 2006 revival of company to the original production of company, granted was not at the original production of company from what I heard and saw I think the 2006 revival captures the piece better -I enjoyed spring awakening, but cannot stand its fans. -I don't enjoy Stephen Schwartz's shows or music -I'm not a huge fan of Daphne Rubin-Vega
Daphne Rubin-Vega makes similar noises to what a cat would sound like being tortured alive while being thrown off a building and then into a fire burning slowly to death.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
^ Despite the fact that I highly disagree with that statement, you just posted one of the funnies pieces of **** I have ever read on BWW. Ever.
I love it when singers use lots of fast vibrato. In case this is an unpopular opinion, Daphne Rubin-Vega is 100% raw natural talent.
As much as I love Heather Headley and Aida, the 'Best Leading Actress' tony should have gone to Toni Colette, no doubt.

I don't mind it when threads go off-topic. I actually think it's fun.

Gavin Creel plays Claude as if he's Forest Gump. I don't know what kind of 'acting' he thinks he's doing, but I've seen the show 5 times now and he's painful to watch. He looks and sounds like a 6 year old trying to pronounce the words in a picture book. Yes, it's a show about hippies, but that doesn't mean he has to act like his brain has been completely fried.
