From the AEA website:
Alert: HAIRSPRAY and THE PRODUCERS are Non-Equity Tours
AEA, AFTRA, AGMA, AGVA and SAG members are advised that Actors’ Equity Association does NOT have a contract for the upcoming National Tours of HAIRSPRAY and THE PRODUCERS.
AEA, AFTRA, AGMA, AGVA and SAG members may NOT accept employment in these productions without an Equity contract.
Equity Franchised Agents are reminded that it is a violation of the Agency Regulations to submit Equity members for non-Equity work.
Yes, I think this has been news for a while...if you want, there's a thread on the non-Equity tour of Hairspray I can try to find.
I found this in another thread regarding Hairspray:
"Just to clarify.....yes, there is a Non-Equity tour that will soon follow. They are being produced by NETWorks. They are starting in Atlantic City with the 90 minute "Vegas" version and supposedly continuing with the full length version of the show.
Well, I actually know a little more than that but that's all I feel that I should say.
Thank you again to broadwayworld and it's members for your support for the past 3 years.

I didn't know "The Producers" was going non-eq. Maybe I'm living under a rock. I suppose the tour closing a year a ago could have been a clue.

Thus the reason for the post!
I can't imagine "The Producers" being non-Equity. Not that there aren't immensely talented non-Eq performers out there (I being one of them of course!), but considering who they've gotten for some of these tours it could be quite painful to watch.
