I was reading the summer programs thread and I found a lot of mentions of Usdan. I'm actually going myself this summer. I started there 4 years ago as a creative writing major. Then all my friends decided to do theater as their major the next year, so I hopped on the bandwagon. Now, I'm going to be in musical rep-The Mystery of Edwin Drood!
Usdan really did change my life. I found many close friends there, and without Usdan I never would have started to sing. I owe so much to that stretch of land in eastern Long Island. I can't drive past it over the year without tearing up. Pathetic, but true. Usdan made me who I am.
*ends sentimental tangent*
If you're referring to the LI location, it is a nice camp. I was there once to see a production of "Guys and Dolls," which was done really well. The campus was beautiful and the people seemed nice. Sorry I can't be of more help.
It's ok. And there is no other Usdan location other than Long Island. Is there? Someone from Rep '03 was in Guys and Dolls, but it was before my time, I think.
I went for one summer for dance.
So many Usdanites here! I never realized it.

This production was July, 2001.
I never attended the facility, just saw the show there.

Can you give me more information on it? I'm looking into it, but I'd love to get information from someone who went there. In my case, I can dance and act, but I can't sing. Would Usdan help me achieve the vocal quality that I want?
I went there in 1997 and 1998. In '97 I was a sculpture major/band minor (oboe)... in '98 I did ballet major (the worst - Blechman
) and tap/jazz minor. Sculpture was CRAAAAAZY... I really loved it there, even though us 13 year olds (at the time) were known to cut assembly. I'm happy that they now offer a Tap major as there were some great tappers in my minor and we got to do great performance pieces.
TheaterAddict-A lot depends on your director. Some of them are really great, and help you with training and stuff and cast well, and others are just not too good. if you're not in rep, a lot of it is the luck of the draw.
I am a proud Usdanite, I love usdan, it is the most amazing experience. You have all these theater geeks, and everybody is so supportive, you would think that everybody would get totally bitchy about parts and all that kind of crap. NEVER HAPPENS! everybody is so nice. Best experience

Horton's right. Everyone's really supportive, even as auditions. You're happy for your friend even if she gets the part you want. And if you're good, there's always a chance for you to shine at the Cabaret.
