Really? I'm astonished. The show quite simply isn't Broadway worthy.
I'm totally prepared to eat my words. But the show I saw a while back is mediocre at best.
Ah well.. only time will tell...
I agree with BigFatBlonde.
I saw the show closing weekend and it was dreadful, except the final two scenes. I hope a LOT changes before Broadway.
Agreed, Sondhead.
The High School scene was interminable. Had I not been with company, I would have happily walked.
And while the final scene had some emotional "tug." It wasn't enough to warrant the seemingly endless monotonous banter the preceded it.
As was mentioned recently in another thread, the first preview is February 2nd. Opening night is tentatively scheduled for February 26th.
Whatever happened with Lauren Kennedy's other musical?

So is this 3 Acts, with two intermissions?
I'm disappointed to hear two people who really didn't like it. I saw a few numbers performed way back when at some "Coming to Broadway" event at the Times Center and really loved what I heard. Admittedly, it helped that Kelli O'Hara was one of the three performers at that event. Though I never heard any more of the music and am unfamiliar with the play it is based on, I was really hopeful about this one. Actually, I'm still hopeful. But maybe more cautious now.

It's an 1 hour and 45 minutes with no intermission...

I can see how the songs alone could come off promising. But onstage they were just "somewhat pleasant".
More often than not the score just elongated the already tiresome book scenes. The songs would state the obvious and STRETCH out a simple concept to death. Each woman got her "turn" and you just sat there waiting for for the big "finish" so the damn thing would finally end.
