Posted: 3/7/04 at 3:54pmYou mean to tell me they are making a musical based on Anne Rice's novel? Hmmmm...as an Anne Rice fan, its hard to see that happening..but maybe it will work...Who's writing the book? Songs?

The article says they are shooting for an opening sometime in 2005.

Posted: 3/10/04 at 7:37amMax did a reading of it playing Nicholas (a violinist (in the book) that Lestat seduces and makes into a vampire...however I believe I heard Max say on Seth's Chatterbox that he isn't involved in the project any longer. I could be wrong.

Yep, that's what Max said. BUT, there's still time before rehearsals begin and there are always last minute cast changes.
You never know how things will turn out.

That would be great.....But it wouldn't happen!!! If it did, the headlines would read..."THE SPONGE IS BACK, RUN FOR YOUR LIVES"...haha!

Posted: 3/10/04 at 9:58pmI heard it was "Interview With the Vampire", but my source was not that great. Is it Interview or Lestat? Anyone hear of any casting possibilities yet?

It has been referred to, in print, as the Vampire Lestat, and if the character of Nicholas appears, then it is definitely the second book. However, I also heard that the adaptors considered the first three books of Rice's Vampire series a trilogy and parts of all of them would appear in the show. The editing choices will be fascinating.
Meanwhile, I have also heard of a "Dracula" possibly coming to Broadway too.

HA! I was just remembering some long ago murmurings, but got a little further down on the message board and see the "Dracula" is indeed being produced on Broadway next season.
No Vampires in April, so far anyway.....

Posted: 3/11/04 at 7:29amThere is nothing wrong with having a sponge appear in a Vampire musical, sponges are mysterious, just like Vampires. And are they ever funny....I will also go on record as saying I WISH that Dance of the Vampires was still running, I will admit that I miss it. No, really I do...
