At least one exception I can think of is Luba Mason. She is primarily a singer/actress. Her dancing wasn't strong but her singing and acting made up for it.

I ask because I wonder if the choreography is that difficult that only professional dancers can master it.

Kind of random but I hope Lesli Margherita plays Velma Kelly at some point. She's an excellent singer/dancer and she's very funny.

I think the role of Velma Kelly is more difficult, compared to Roxie Hart. Because of that, the ladies who portary Velma need to have a strong command of dancing. Celebrity Roxies can perform under an "edited" version of the choreography...sort of like Roxie lite. I don't think you can do something like that with Velma.

I have seen the show some time ago and watched again some YT clips and I don´t find Velmas dancing scenes that difficult that the actress needs to be a professional dancer, of course some basic knoledge is important but with hard training, prior the rehearsels, it should be managable, it´s not so that Velmas dancing includes very difficult elements of classical ballet, isn´t it?

I think you are under estimating the challenges of Bob Fosse's choreography. I think it would look more difficult if you saw a non dancer do I can't do it alone, when velma takes the stand, all that jazz, and cell block tango.
