Sad to hear about the Variety Arts. It was a great little theatre. I saw Summer of '42 there several times but I don't think I've been back since
I suppose it is nice, but for some reason i like the more ambigious (sp?) theater names such as the Virginia theater, where most ppl wouldn't know who that is named after. I also second the motion to change the B'way theater's name. Becaus of that theater, My friend thought that all Broadway musicals ever, played in the Broadway Theater and that's why they are called Broadway Musicals. I was like "how can 12 different musicals play in the same theater at the same time?" He was like "Um, I dont know?"
finally a renaming of a theatre that i agree with! I for one hate it that they changed the name of the royale and plymouth theatre names for Schoenfeld and Jacobs. :-p

Is it just me, or is it a bit soon? How would you feel if people were already memorializing you before you're even passed? Not to mention he must dealing with some pain, both emotional and physical.
Wonderful idea, truly deserving and especially fitting, but maybe hold off until Mr. Wilson has left us.
I hate when theatres are renamed, especially after they are named for someone.
Martin Beck was a person, why should he be removed?
Virginia was a woman, now shes not remembered.

Virginia Binger was a member of the Jujamcyn board. A very worthy person, I'm sure, but are you really that shocked she was forgotten? I doubt you knew who she was in the first place.
