Hey everyone,
I was just wondering what you guys thought the vocal ranges for the following performers are, please respond! - feel free to add anyone else to this list because I always find this interesting to know:
Derek Klena - I'm guessing he's a tenor as per My Petersburg in Anastasia, and his general key
Christian Borle - Tenor as well! Perhaps baritenor?
Laura Bell Bundy - Mezzo with belt? However, her Thank Goodness from when she was a standby in Wicked makes me think she may have some soprano notes.
Jessie Mueller - Soprano - she hit a high C on obsessed with Seth Rudetsky
Ben Platt and Colton Ryan - Tenor
Laura Osnes - mezzo with belt?
Sheridan Smith - mezzo with belt?
Lee Mead - baritenor?
Danielle Wade - Soprano belter?
Aaron Tveit - Tenor or high baritenor?
Auli'i Cravalho - Mezzo soprano?
Willemijn Verkaik - mezzo with a strong high belt?
Megan Hilty - soprano belter?
Drew Gheling - baritenor?
Betsy Wolfe - mezzo with strong belt?
I think Christian Borle is a baritenor and Laura Bell Bundy is a mezzo with belt. I've never thought of her as a soprano.

you think Baritenor? The notes he hits in chip on my shoulder at the end are pretty high! Pure imagination has also been raised in key since the west end production!

As a professional musical theatre performer, it's very difficult to classify our vocal types because we are trained to have as large a range and be as versatile stylistically as our vocal cords allow. If you had to do so for the performers you've listed, I'd say the vast majority of the men are baritenors and the women are sopranos with mix/belts.

Derek Klena is a tenor. Though, the key you're singing in does not determine what voice type you have.
Christian Borle is also a tenor.
Jessie Mueller is a soprano.
Laura Osnes is a soprano.
Aaron Tveit is a tenor.
Megan Hilty is a soprano.
Drew Gehling is a tenor.
Betsy Wolfe is a soprano.

Honestly classifying singers this way is imo getting outdated. I prefer a notation such as "their highest note is X, their lowest note is Y" as it's more descriptive than "mezzo soprano"
