Surprised not to see a million threads about this already, but is anyone going?
when is it?

You got to begin somewhere...
It's also for replacements in the Broadway cast. (Does this mean they've already casted the principals for the tour?)
"Do you really have what it takes to be cast?"
Um, I am not auditioning-I was just wondering who was...
BwayTheatre11- i know i gotta begin somewhere but in the realm of reasons to take a long leave of absence from my freshman year of college i don't thing an ensemble role is gonna cut it with the parentals
Oh by the way, interesting that they seem to still be casting the principals in LA but not in NY...
I noticed that. I also noticed LA has casting calls for Lion King, B&tB, etc. I don't think NYC has this! (Correct me if I'm wrong.)

Very cool! Well, good luck to those who are going! LA, huh? That's so close to me, but I think I'll stick to my day job since I have NO TALENT on stage! He, he!

Is there going to be a 'singers' call for Wicked?? I know the show has dancing tracks and singing tracks...
Unfortunately, I live in Cali but farther North so I'm not near L.A. at all.
I agree Type_A_Tiff very interesting, I wonder what the rationale is-I would have thought it would be the other way around.
Bobby'sworld-The singing call as of right now is in LA only
I asked this question earlier this week. I am more of a singer who can move well and was hoping there would be a chrous open singer call in NYC. Maybe i should jsut send my stuff to Telsey Casting instead and bag this dance audition. But I really think it's worth pursuing.
Hmm im scared 2 see who will be..I cant believE Shoshana bean is in it now!
Good luck with whatever you decide to do Paulie.
One more thing that just came to mind: they listed Elphaba as a high pop/rock singer-I definitely think Idina is in this category but does eden have a pop/rocl voice? Also, Why do they feel the need to list who originated the role?

Wait, there's an Aida tour?
YEs, there's a non-union tour of AIDA.
Aida tour was supposed to start a few months ago, but it was postponed "indefinitely". I guess so they could...uh...cast it again? Those dates don't seem to be coming close to the Pacific northwest!
I'll try not to pass judgment on it being non-equity. If this cast is half as good as the current non-equity Rent tour, I'll be happy. (SHILL! SHILL! I'm a SHILL!)

If I was a unique, fit, eccentric dancer I'd be there in a heartbeat...

interesting- they don't seem to be casting for morrible and the wizard- i'm guessing those a reserved for celebrities of a certain age

Most people start out in the chorus and consider themselves lucky to be in the ensemble. It also pays pretty well and has a per diem attached to it on tour.
about the casting call only in LA... I guess they figure that if they do one in NY, they will be swamped. I'm guessing that they are still making it known that there are auditions being held in CA so that only NY people who are really enthusiastic about being in the show and are extremely confident in their talent will show up. Unless people just happen to have the funds for those plane tickets just lying around...
and saying that being in the ensemble is 'above' you is sort of offending to me... Maybe you are really talented, but I think its sort of rude to downplay ensemble members. They work hard too! They still get paid decent ammounts even though they are usually not recognized. I personally wouldnt turn down an audition because the part isnt big enough unless I have some alternative job in mind...
