So I went to the Hair Concert last year and didnt get to see Idina as she pulled out but Julie Garnye did her number in the show and WAS AMAZING...I mean AMAZING...She did a great job...
So I go to look at the Hair CD on Sh-K-Boom Recording website and she is not on the cast listing...Does anyone know why? I think it terrible she did such a great job and I wanted the recording of her.
I also noted that Sherie Renee Scott who wasn't involved in the concert is on the list...Does anyone know what song she is sing..

Posted: 2/12/05 at 10:53pmWell is Idina on the CD? And of COURSE Sherie Rene is on the CD; she co-founded the record label. Maybe if Idina and Julie both aren't on the recording, Sherie Rene sang whatever song that is?

And if SRS sang "Walking In Space" (which was the number Julie sang) just because she owns the label I think that is a bit bad...If Julie and Idina weren't avaliable I completely understand...SRS is a great choice to do that number... Posted: 2/12/05 at 10:57pmMaybe there was some reason that Julie couldn't do it, even though she was involved in the production. All I'm saying is that whatever the case is, if neither of them could do it, Sherie is a great (and the obvious, for those reasons) choice.

I think it's a bit odd but WRONG?
She's investing her own money into a CD that will essentially benefit The Actor's Fund and if neither Idina nor Julie couldn't commit to the recording, why should all production be stopped based on two unavailable actresses. It's not like Sherie is bad.

Please do not get me wrong...I agree that if they were not avaliable then yes SRS is a great choice and the CD should be produced to benefit a worthy cause....
I was just firstly asking did anyone know why she wasnt on the CD...

Posted: 2/13/05 at 8:58pmAladdin, I have never posted here before, but am inspired to do so by your questioning of Julie Garnye's omission from the HAIR CD. As someone who knows Julie, I can attest that she's way too classy to make anything of it, but allow me to confirm she most definitely was available for the recording. If the project were not for charity, I would be urging a boycott of the CD.

Posted: 2/14/05 at 3:32pmWait, you want us to "boycott the CD" because this last minute replacement, (whom I and I'm sure many others, have never heard of), didn't get to sing the song on the album, instead of FAR more recognizable diva and co-founder of the label, Sherie Scott? You're kidding, right? I didn't get to see the benefit but I'm surely more apt to buy it because of the many well-known Broadway personalities singing some of my favorite tunes. What WOULD have been wrong would have been to let Menzel sing it, even though, she quite clearly, left them hanging at the last minute.
