One plot hole that kills me is when Nessarose, in Wicked Witch of the East scene, says "you aren't going back there to save those monkeys, you are going to find Fiyero, but it's too late." How does Nessa know that Elphie loves Fiyero? Not once after the lion cub scene are those three in a scene together, and not once does Elphaba mention Fiyero to her. Can anyone explain that, because it kills me a little every time I see it.
Their relationship is much easier to see when have you the right actress playing Galinda, I think
Katie Rose Clarke (tour) really did a wonderful job as Galinda. She made it seem like the only reason she said those mean things to Elphaba, was because her friends wanted her to. Her Galinda did whatever she could to make her followers happy. A really good example was when she said she knew Elphaba before the scene at Shiz. She said "yes I knew her" very proudly. Then once the crowd gasped she then tried to cover it up with the "our paths did cross at school."
Katie's Galinda liked Elphaba, but it was her friends who she was trying to please, and make fun of Elphaba.
Wow, does that even make sense? My mind just kind of threw up.

"Is there really anyone alive that's never heard of the Wizard of Oz?"
Yes, there are. No joke. Even I didn't know anything about the movie or books till I was eight.
Broadway122, that is terrific characterization on her part, because making her followers happy is Galinda's sole purpose as the Good Witch, she tells all those citizens what they want to hear to make them happy. So for her to carry that characteristic through the entire show is some great character development on Katie Rose Clarke's part.
I was just thinking about this today, with Ave Q closing and how that probably is a better show than Wicked, because every character in Ave Q has many dimensions to them and a purpose (even if they can't find it just yet), with Wicked, I feel like Elphaba, Galinda & The Wizard are the only ones who truly have depth to them. Fiyero & Nessa have some depth, but really aren't well written roles.

Ha ha ha...ok...anyone over 8 then.
But I guess not TOO many UNDER 8 would be in the theater anyway.

I don't get it?
Why is everyone arguing about Wicked?
I have a question is Wicked suppose to be written to adults or teens?
I went and saw the show 3 times while it was in my town, just because of Katie Rose Clarke's characterization of the role. Sometimes it was so heart breaking to watch Katie do those mean things to Elphaba because Katie's Galinda knew they were wrong.
The 2 things make they show poorly written for me are:
1) When Galinda comes down on her bubble for the first time she doesn't have The Grimmerie with her. But in the Finale when she isThe Grimmerie going up in her bubble to face the crowd she flew away with the Grimoire tucked under her arms.
2) What does Fiyero do after "As Long As Your Mine"? He walks up stage and then slams his lantern down.
EDIT-I hit post too early.
I never understood the Fiyero. It seems like he got captured or something, it's a build up to nothing.
well that Fyero as long as youre mine but is more bad direction that a plot hole. they could have just had a nice projection of the falling house after they both run off
They are friends because Glinda gives her a makeover, really?
No, the bond started when Glinda made a gesture of apology by dancing with Elphaba after trying to publicly humiliate Elphaba. This was the firs change we start to see in Glinda. Then there was the makeover, during which they bonded about private matters. And there was the whole helping Elphaba escape from the Wizard and Morrible thing. By the time the line comes up about "best friends", it's been set up to the audience that these two girls have changed opinions of each other and matured enough to recognize that they have come to depend on each other. It's not completely out of nowhere.
defyingravity08 I agree. He looks like he gets captured, so the audience waits until the next time we see him, wondering what happened to him. We never find out, it just goes on and the next time we see him, he is swinging on a stupid rope helping Elphaba escape. That is one large do left open by Winnie.

for me, i read gregory macguires book. the two kind of merged together in my head so alot of the characters and plot etc seem to make a bit more sense, and have more depth, even with the changes.
I;ve never thought about most of those plot holes. To me they are not important things and can be left up to the imagination. Why do people need every single little thing explained.
as for Morrible suddenly being in the emerald city, It is obvious to me that the wizard rewarded her for finding Elphaba (or atleast someone with real powers, which means to me that the Wizard recruited her and others to keep a look out for "tallented" people)
I still maintain that Fyero thing is bad direction and not a plot hole. Personally I dont see why he needs to hang around, Its not like they are killing time for a set change or anything. Maybe they are trying to make it seem like the house was heading his way before crashing.
