We can too have Ana! I hope to god she comes! Either that or have Les Kritzer do it.
Oh. Leslie, definitely. But either way, we keep Kristy.
I thought that our cast (and the touring cast) was WAAAAAAYYY better than the bway cast...
If I could mix a bit of the tour into the Chicago cast I would have a showgasm...:)
haha showgasm!! I'm so happy for Ana and Kate, and the Chicago production, I knew critics would love them!
It's so interesting that these two things happen on the same day. Great reviews for Chicago. A negative review from the Times for the current Broadway cast. I would bet that's good foreshadowing for Ana making a move to Broadway. And though I, at first, thought casting her was a total puzzle, I can now understand what the reviewers are saying. It makes sense to me.
You can't have Ana...unless we get Steph..then I won't complain too much

I'm crossing my fingers for an Ana transfer when Bean's contract is up in January. I'm not a fan of Block.
Well Block will be busy with the tour anyway. I'm fairly confident that Saycon might take over.

Why would Ana transfer? Wicked is bringing in over a million dollars a week! I do not think that the NY production produces much more!

Well Ana's not going to be in the Chicago production forever.
I assume you mean "Ana" -- Most performers want the chance to perform the role on Broadway. It's a prestige thing. And most directors want the best they have in the role in the New York company. The story is that Joe Mantello wants Ana to do the role in New York City. That's based on her performance, not on her marquis name or because they need to boost ticket sales.

Wicked Chicago actually is generating slightly more revenue than the B'way production. The tickets are slightly cheaper here but the Oriental holds a few more people than the Gershwin, so the Chicago production makes a little more each week- as long as both shows are sold out 100%.
I'd think Ana would want to go to NY if offered. She's embarking on a Broadway career; it seems she'd want to strut her stuff in front of the Times Square royalty. Besides, with reviews like these, she'd stir up some buzz I'm sure.
isn't she really based out of new york as well? i am assuming she would rather work at home, no?
Theres is going to be a new cast recording in the near future I pursume.
Probably not EDCT -- There are other threads on this, but its basically unheard of for there to be a second cast recording (for a touring cast) and seems to only happen on Broadway when Brooke Shields takes over...
It was suggested that perhaps they should do "mini-cds" as they did for SUNSET BOULEVARD, which gave just about every Norma the chance to record her "big" numbers.
And of course, they'll be foreign cast recordings when the show hits Japan, etc.

OK EDCT-- there's a big long limb here, go out on it. Who will be on this new Wicked Recording? When will it be released? And why? Enlighten us.
Good reviews! However, I don't agree with the first on one point, Glinda is not a one dimensional character. She's not supposed to be, nor have I seen her portrayed that way.
There is another thing about the first article... I haven't seen the sit down yet, but I've *heard*ahem* some good things and Ana definitely can sing, I just am skeptical that she could hands down top Stephanie. I'll know in a little over a week though! :)
But I highly doubt anyone could top Steph.

Ana Gasteyer is an incredible performer. I'm sure she makes a lovely witch.

I saw Wicked several times in NY with Idina and Shoshana. Both are AMAZING performers. I would love it if Ana eventually transfered. I'm so happy for Wicked. So many doubted it. Its great to see a musical do so well!

MLE, I saw Idina on Broadway-- she was great. I saw Stephanie here and she was terriffic. I hate to compare, but if I got the chance to see her or Idina again, I'd have to pick Stephanie.
Then I saw Ana. It was like a different show. I can not praise her enough. One of the best performances I've seen, ever.
But to your other point, Chenoweth really made Glinda 3D. She still tops my ballot in that role.

Finally the Tribune weighs in- a day late by my calender, but nonetheless. It seems that yet once again, the critic seems bothered that he doesn't love it as much as the audience does, but concedes that "The production, directed by Joe Mantello, remains a large, confident, don't-mess-with-me-I'm-a-hit enterprise." Phillips does seem to understand that no matter what the problems, audiences REALLY LOVE Wicked: "But this is "Wicked," the hit that can't be bothered with its own considerable flaws."

Thanks Ric! I love you too! haha..unless..you were talking about Steph Block..but I think that was to me! lol
and I love our Wicked cast...we rock...
Seriously..I loved Ana--but I love Steph more. maybe it's the name :) no, but I think I would not be upset if Ana went to NYC (which would be great for them since...their cast isn't that great right now-sorry but they aren't) as long as we got Steph, or JENNA! AHHH...
now THOSE are showgasms....:)
going again on Wednesday! I'm officially sad and obsessed...
