I went today (and I also went to the matinee performance which was phenomenal but I'll post a whole review about that tomorrow)...the Block Party was great...
Under the Gershwins overpass, there were a few carts which sold different things--Ozdust Botique stuff (new stuff they were selling= a WICKED DAY shirt, a witches hat with the logo on the front and the words 'DEFY GRAVITY' on the back, a pin, a beanie hat and I think thats it), a cart selling autographed things from the cast (I purchased a pic of Idina getting her makeup on which was signed by her, and a pic of J.LA getting into her bubble backstage, also signed), and the other carts had games, face painting, food, etc.--The singing contest was great and the judges were Stephen Schwartz, *Glinda understudy* Megan Hilty, *Elphaba understudy* Shoshana Bean, Joe Mantello, Joey MCIntyre, and casting agent Bernie Telsley. The contestents were pretty good, with a few really bad exceptions but I give them all A's for effort and for getting in front of that huge crowd to sing. Not sure of the girl's name who won but she sang a part of The Wizard and I really really well. *She won 10 tix to the show, hotel & dinner reservations, a backstage tour by cast members, and a limo ride to the city and back after they stay over in the hotel*.
All in all, WICKED DAY was great and Ill post more about the show itself either tonight or tomorrow...if you couldnt make it this year, please come in 2005! It was so much fun!!

Posted: 10/30/04 at 9:56pmWow. Quite the extravaganza. I like Wicked, but are there other shows that really go all-out like this for their first anniversaries? It seems a little over-the-top. Before you flame me, I repeat: I like Wicked! I'm just wondering.

Posted: 10/30/04 at 10:06pmI'm so bummed I didn't get to go! I had a stupid class trip to go to...and I got lost so I probably could have made it! Darn! Glad you had fun, though..

didn't stay for the singing competition but had an awesome time and won a ton of free stuff - poster, tee, buttons, cd samplers
didn't have as much new stuff at the boutique as i thought they would - i only saw the hat (skull cap) and the wicked day t-shirt but maybe i was missing something
broadway cares also had a booth with stuff like what they had at the flea market but generally a bit cheaper
also on the scene were producers marc platt and stone

The pix were only $25 each but I really didnt care how much they were since they were going to BCEFA. There was a Glinda bank with Kristin Chenoweth's signature going for (I believe) $150. It was signed "<3 Kristin Chenoweth "GA-LINDA".
The girl who won was very young...my guess would be around 11 or 12.
It was sooooooooooo much fun and for those of you who didnt come this year, once again, it is totally worth it so you should seriously consider going next year which I'm sure will only be better.
