I was thinking about this awhile back. I was watching Rent and I was thinking God knows I love Idina but she looks much to old to be playing a teenager/college student..

Well I would love to see Idina & Kristin in the movie. Michelle Federer or Jenna Leigh Green would be a good idea for Nessa. But the rest, I don't mind BUT as long as their good at acting and singing

As someone who has seen almost every cast, I still have to say that the original actresses would kick ass in a movie. They're both strong leads who can stand on their own, and while I have seen 2 other Elphies and 1 other Glinda that were REALLY good, it would be a slap in the face to me, at least, to see anyone but Menzel and Chenoweth in a film version.

In fact, I think their chemistry is unmatched. Both actresses should be doing big roles on Broadway and in films. And while they could add some star power to the movie by choosing "names"- it would be a diservice to the film. I like how Rent had some of the old names and some new. Madame Morrible could be a great character to cast- get a name for that, and for the wizard. I loved NLButz as Fieryo, but you could get a "name" for that role, too. Even Nessarose, although I LOVED Michelle Federer.

All I know is, if they cast Jessica Simpson and Britney Spears, I would RUN as fast as I could. Not to put them down, but this show is so special- it reaches so many people, I think having the original two stars would be a coup. I did hear buzz that Alanis Morrisette (Whom I love)is being considered for Elphaba. But they could cast my favorite actresses of all time and I would still vote for the original two.

I just wish I knew who was playing Glinda in the Chicago production in November- I have tix for the 3rd and am hoping they get someone really good. I've seen it in NYC, Chicago and Detroit and have seen great casts- but it's essential to have a good Glinda. The part was kind of written for Chenowith, so you can't stray too far from that.

BTW- I read above that someone thinks Eden Espinoza can sing "rings around Idina"? I don't think it's a competition, but I will say this. I saw Idina as Elphaba twice and was literally blown away. I saw Eden in Brooklyn and was blown away. But Eden in Wicked, while good, was NOT better than Idina. There was something lacking, which MAY have been made up later in the run (I saw her early on) but I've seen some great Elphies and Eden didn't even make the top 3! Now I have to say that I think Eden is fantastic and I thought she should get a Tony for Brooklyn- she is absolutely talented and an amazing singer. She just wasn't, IMO, close to Idina. There was a lack of maturity and she didn't blend well in the duets. I'm sure she got better and she is a great singer- but no one has touched Idina yet- though Ana Gasteyer and Kristy Cates are extremely good.

If we have to wait much longer for the film, Apple Paltrow and Madonna's daugher Lola will be playing the leads!

Here's a thought- Robin Williams as the Wizard, Barbra Streisand as Madame Morrible, and Patrick Dempsey as Fieryo! Mandy Moore or Jessica Simpson could do Nessarose-her song was cut from the CD- they could do more with that role.

Maybe there would be a movie musical in the near future ,but I heard the role of Elphaba is going to Brittney Spears. Why??????
That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

when and if the movie comes out...i'm not sure if i would wanna see the obc in it. maybe carole, and joel...but i don't know about anyone else...

I hear that Glinda is going to be Ana Gasteyer and Fiyero is going to be Shoshana Bean. *gasps*
