WICKED - The Film?

Ok...so there don't seem to be any plans, but wouldn't it be great! : )

I found a really cool makeshift clip (no bootlegs!) about this: http://wickedtheforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=445

What do you think - Wicked The Movie or no Wicked The Movie?

EDIT - Topic title was a bit misleading :~|

re: WICKED - The Film!

There are a lot of other threads on this topic already, redtrain.

just out of curiosity, how many threads HAVE been made on this topic?

But i think it's a good idea

re: WICKED - The Film!

Alright, I'll throw this out there because its at least something new -- from what I have heard - the film has recently and very quietly moved into some infant early development stages at Universal, with a writer being assigned to do a screen treatment, etc. A very high profile director has apparently expressed interest in directing, but nothing is at all definite.

That doesn't mean a film version is going to go in front of cameras next summer, but I DO think you'll be seeing this in move theatres sometime in the next 4 years. WITH movie stars in these roles.

re: WICKED - The Film!

I think Reese Witherspoon as Glinda would rock!

Redtrain you might find some movie information here:

re: WICKED - The Film!

i would love to see a movie of this, just as long as they dont used the obc cast members!!! please, i love kristin, and idina is cool, but PLEASE let them not be in the movie!!!

re: WICKED - The Film!

Why? If you like the actors and actresses, why not have them in the film?
#12

re: WICKED - The Film!

because they might be good for the stage, (ala RENT obc), but might not for the movie. i think that was one of the biggest mistakes for both the RENT and THE PRODUCERS. but i think Idina and Kristin look a bit too old to play college students, on film at least.
i dont wanna argue, but thats my opinion.

re: WICKED - The Film!

I'm pretty sure neither Menzel or Chenoweth will be in this film.

re: WICKED - The Film!

I think Hathaway and Witherspoon are good ideas.

I also think that Kate Hudson would be funny as Glinda.

re: WICKED - The Film!
Nadia Bjorlin is another person who I could see as Elphaba. If she gets the role of Wonder Woman (which she's supposed to be in the running for) and it makes her more well known, she might be a major candidate.

can you imagine how awful a reality show would be where they look for the next Elphaba and G(a)linda.

re: WICKED - The Film!

I don't care who does the "movie" as long as they can actually sing. NO "MOVIE STARS" please!!! I know Rent was a flop, but the only people who were gonna see it were theatre people anyways, and we liked it cuz it had actual singers in it, well except for one cast member.....

I thik Ewan McGregor would be a good Fiyero.

re: WICKED - The Film!

And if we are really lucky we will have a reality show called "Who is Popular?" and they can cast WICKED on tv!!!

if there is such a movie, i hope it would be more like the book. The book would make a great movie.

re: WICKED - The Film!

I am still aprehensive about this movie...
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Please, please, no movie.

re: WICKED - The Film!

A movie would just kill the show and make it look "cheesey"!

Imagine how corny 'Defying Gravity' would look on film! There's no way to make it original because everybody's seen it before! The magic of the show would be lost!

re: WICKED - The Film!

I could go for a film adaptation of the novel. I wouldn't care for a film adaptation of the musical.

re: WICKED - The Film!

MB I have it on very good authority that the ONLY 2 people who have been cleared as the leads thus far, insurance wise by the bonding company, ARE Menzel and Chenoweth.
