T.O. stands for Totally Oral, which means the Canadian Wicked Tickets Will Be Licked. And the show will run even fewer weeks than The Producers, I predict.

WICKED's Totally Oral tour starts in Toranto and ends in Uranus.

Why?

Why not just say Toronto?

And if you insist, why put the periods in?

I will now refer to Dallas as D.T.U.

I thought everyone knew that T.O. stood for Toronto. I guess it's only apparent in Canada.

To answer the original question: it will most likely be in the Canon Theatre, since the Producers has left. Tickets won't go on sale for awhile yet, not while you can still get a subscription to Mirvish's season.

Yes, Wicked will undoubtedly run shorter here than The Producers - but only because it's the first stop of a tour. It's not a sitting production.

As a native Torontonian, I don't know how it started, but in recent years T.O (or even T-dot) has been the short-form or nickname for Toronto. I'm pretty sure it's not derived from the first and last letter of Toronto, but rather the first two letters: TOronto.

It MIGHT come from the postal/travel acronym for the city (ie. TO = Toronto, MT = Montreal), but again I'm not sure (MT is rarely used as a nickname for Montreal). I'm assuming the nickname "T O" just grew out of the city getting hipper and trendier and more popular over the years, and people were just looking for hip nicknames.

I find myself frequently saying, "I'm from the T-Dot."

If you're on the west coat, we can't even be bothered to pronounce it properly or call it "T.O." It's called "Tahrahnuh."

I always thought that was the derogative way for non-Torontonians (the ones who have something against the city) to make jabs at Toronto.

Most Torontonians, when quickly saying the name of the city, pronounce it "Torono"; the last T is either silent or quick. (In fact, you can usually tell who is not native to Toronto by how they stress the last T: "ToronTo").

Non-Torontonians bitterly exaggerate this pronounciation by squawking "Tahrahnuh". It's like how Americans think Canadians pronounce about "aboot" (and how Canadians think Americans pronounce it "abaahwoot").

I could have sworn people used to refer to New York as N.Y...with the period. So actually T.O makes sense. I knew what it meant when I saw it lol.
