WICKED ticket question

Ok, so I think I may finally break down and see WICKED this fall. Tickets are sooo pricy, though. I suppose I could get tkts. for the spring, or hit the lobby for the lottery or the refund line. However, I don't live in the city, so I'd rather just go in with my tkts. that nite. And I don't wanna wait till spring.
How much have u folks paid? What's the max u have paid? I can get a pair down close for about $400 in an auction, which means I'd get to see Ms. Menzel.
Any thought on this? Is it worth that much $? I never pay that much.
Help all u WICKEDd folks. Gimme the skinny. LOL
Grazie!

I would honestly try the cancellation line, if you have a few hours to spare. You wont pay more than $100 a ticket and they almost always have at least 5 tickets available.
Honestly, I saw the show, I loved it, but I would not put down $400 for tickets

400 bucks is quite a bit of money. I absolutely love the show and I think Idina is fabulous, but even I wouldn't spend $400.
You should probably try the cancellation line like kates said. If you get there early enough you should be okay.
Wishes come true, not free.

Tickets aren't available through TKTS, $400 - are you crazy?
Try the cancellation line, lottery, or ticketmaster. I know there are tickets available between now an Jan 9!

Posted: 11/4/04 at 11:04pmYea I sat in row D center and I would have paid $250, they are great seats
#12re: WICKED ticket question
Posted: 11/4/04 at 11:05pmi bought partial view seats for 55 dollars. they are in the fourth row, the last 2 seats on the left. they sell the exact seats for $100 for friday, saturday and sunday performances. so the view cant be that bad.

Posted: 11/5/04 at 12:33amI say the farther away the better - that way you can still think the final moments of act one are really magical - otherwise if you actually have decent seats you'll see how lame elphaba's "flying," AKA standing on a lift, really is. I have a video of this show and wow - it's terrible on there, too.

Posted: 11/5/04 at 12:35amIt was funny... on Sunday, I sat on the side, and could see the enormous hook that was holding Idina up. It looked really strange, and kind of made me laugh.

CORRECTION:
I do not HAVE a video, I have SEEN a video.
And I don't want all of you sending me bull**** and linking me to guidelines about how we cant' talk about bootlegs, when most of you would really spend a lot of money on a copy. Too bad I don't really have one.

I have been twice using 2 different ticket methods.
In August my wife and I stood in cancellation line for Saturday night show. Everyone told us we would not get them but we got in line around 5:30. The line was LONG and we got tickets around 7.50 and they were great seats for $100 each. (Row K center on the aisle).
I took my daughter last week and prepurchased the limited view seats. The seats were fantastic especially for the price (55 each) as we were on row E on the far right. You really don't miss much at all and none of the action central to the play. A few backstage entrances are missed until the performer "arrives" in the center stage. Try to prepurchase limited view if you have enough time. If not, go early and get in cancellation line.
If you want to be positive you are getting good seats, pay the $250 you mentioned.
Enjoy.

thanks gang. y'all are the best. actually, one of the B'way. world members, last night, showed me a great little ticketmaster trick. i was able to root out 2 tickets for a night in late nov., house right, 7th row, $55 apiece. (before she showed me the trick, i was having no luck finding anything good for nov./dec. naturally, because it's holiday time. and i really didn't want to deal with the cancellation line.) and ebay prices were so ridiculously bloated.
well, happily, i won't have to wait until the spring to see it. and hopefully ms. menzel will be in it that night and not be taking off.
i KNEW i should have seen it last year when i got the discount coupon. LOL. so, this'll be fun...in the next few weeks i'll be seeing WHITE CHOCOLATE, WICKED and LA CAGE.
Question: I buy a lot of theater tickets. I know that a few years ago ticket prices rose to the loopy range of $100 or more for THE PRODUCERS. I know that I paid more than the usual for FOLLIES. When did tkts. catapult to $250? Did WICKED begin this outer-limits "rage"?

I don't know if Wicked started this but I got $55 seats for Wicked my second time around and my friend got a pair from a broker (for her daughter's birthday) and she was way back row y and paid $300!

Im trying to surprise my mom with a set of Wicked tickets...she's been jealous since I randomly tried the lottery with a friend a few weeks ago and my friend won our first time out. Id love to shock her with tickets...we were planning to go to NYC on the 13th or 14th...who's got suggestions and tips for me on how to NOT pay an arm and a leg and get them off of Ticketmaster...and the cancellation line isnt an option on this trip...

Buy them online - that's the only thing you can do to be certain you'll get to see the show.
And WICKED doesn't sell tickets for more than $100 - it's people who buy them an re-sell them online that get them for more. It's illegal in NY, I believe.
