Oh I think they should try stunt casting before they announce a closing notice....
How about Olivia Newton John as Marian and Patricia Routledge as Count Fosco?

I seriously hope you don't expect anyone to believe you, lol!!! The Woman In White has been so sucessful in London that it is being credited as the fastest European transfer of a musical in recorded history.....Now come on, do you honestly expect me to believe that one of London's top-selling musicals is about to close, and you can't provide any proof? The Broadway production is a pretty big deal since it will be Andrew Lloyd Webber's 1st big musical to hit Broadway since Phantom of the Opera opened in 1988. Unless you can provide us with some valid proof, I think this is just a load of crap....And if you watch ticket sales, everyone else should too! Sorry buddy, but you should seriously think before posting!
Later!

Posted: 9/7/05 at 5:29pmthe woman in white is not going to close in the UK. i refuse to believe your post. this show has done very well, and i can't find any information anywhere saying that it will close.
re: WIW to close in UK#7
Posted: 9/7/05 at 6:17pmI don't know if it's going to close, but it is definetely NOT that succesive Phantom05. When i was planning my May trip to London, the only show I could get tickets through Ticketmaster for any day I wanted was WIW ! It is also constantly on the London equivalent of tkts every day and the day I went, there were quite a few empty seats in the house ! I am not saying it is a flop, because after all The Palace is a huge theater, but it is not even close to a smash hit ! You want London Smash hit shows ? Try to find tickets for Billy Elliot, Mary Poppins, Guys and Dolls or even Mamma Mia !

I don't know about tickets being so easy to find...
I saw it recently and the matinee was completely sold out, and all those very suspicious ticket sellers seemed to put it as a very hot ticket, hard to find..unlike others...

Lol, well I didn't quite use the words "smash-hit", but yes The Woman Im White is on of London "Top-selling" shows (to quote myself). I don't know what day you were looking for tickets on, but WIW is quite a hot ticket in London....The show is, however, the quickest European to Broadway transfer....Check back at a few NY times and Playbill articles when the announcment was made that the show would open on Broadway, I am only saying what was written....Enjoy!

Posted: 9/7/05 at 7:59pmI really go both ways on this subject. I could see it closing, but if the bway one gets raves and is a hit it may do better their.

re: WIW to close in UK#12
Posted: 9/7/05 at 9:06pmI don't have to check. If you say that you read that it is the quickest European to Bway transfer, I have no reason to doubt you. However, this is, maybe, not because it is a huge success in London but mainly because it is the "New" ALW show ! I am quite sure, that plans for its transfer to Bway, were in discussion even before he started writing it LOL

I agree with you, it could just be because it's the "new" ALW musical...It's still so wierd to me, however, that the Broadway opening hasn't really exploded into the press yet...You would think that since it is his first musical to hit a Broadway stage since POTO, that they would be pumping up the advertising a little earlier?!? Oh well, just my thoughts...I'm sure big advertisments and news articles are to come in the next few months!

"You would think that since it is his first musical to hit a Broadway stage since POTO"
Uhhhh... are you sure you wouldn't like to correct this from your post?
A couple of ALW musicals made it to Broadway after POTO
re: WIW to close in UK#16
Posted: 9/7/05 at 9:35pmI doubt it. But I won't feel sorry at all if it closes for real. I still cannot swallow the bitterness of the fact that WIW made Les Miz move out of Palace.

Oops, haha....Yes I do apologize. However, let's get real...None of them have had quite the impression that POTO had. Yes, Sunset was quite a production, but did it last for 17 plus years...No. Anyhoo, yes I do correct myself, thank you for pointing that out!
