re: WOMAN IN WHITE OBCR

Weren't all the original Broadway leads in Phantom (Michael Crawford, Sarah Brightman and Steve Barton) the same as those on the London cast recording? Perhaps that's why there was no Broadway cast recording: same cast?

Yes, they were.

Well arguably the three leads in WIW -- Marian, Laura, and Anne are the same as London. The only real reason to record the Broadway company would be for Michael Ball. Adam Brazier and Paul Boehmer -- wonderful as they may be, aren't going to sell cds...

Okay!!

There's going to be a market waiting out there for that CD - from his UK, USA, Australia ( where he has done a 5-city concert tour ) and world-wide fans (check out the stagedoor of the NYC Opera re: WOMAN IN WHITE OBCR) who can't come over to NYC...plus Broadway theatregoers.

I cannot really imagine a major musical theatre production where Michael Ball headlines one of the roles and no CD has been produced. If he had been asked to release a title song ( Sunset Boulevard) even before the OLCR was released, ALWebber must think very highly of his vocal talent. I remember seing an interview when Michael had just taken over the role of Count Fosco, when ALW told him that "you commanded the role so musically well"!

Exactly! And, in my opinion, reason enough.

Or they could simply record a single of Ball's version of "You Can Get Away with Everything!" Sounds like a cheaper solution re: WOMAN IN WHITE OBCR

LOL. No, no, no, a full OBC recording, please .

Actually, I wish they'd recorded his Patience at the City Opera, which was quite good, but no such luck ...

Michael, did you happen to see it and, if so, any thoughts?
