WOMAN IN WHITE OBCR

Think it will happen?

Due to the fact that the London Cast Recording is not even a year old (and it's virtually the same cast), I'm doubting that they will record an OBCR for this show.

But, then again, it is Webber...so he could get it to happen.

not gonna happen. and does it really need to? the OLCR is perfection...

re: WOMAN IN WHITE OBCR

honestly, i do not think it will get a recording...but one can only hope.

re: WOMAN IN WHITE OBCR

i dont think it will happen either. however, if there was a sit down production in LA , like Phantom and Sunset, they should consider doing one of that.

re: WOMAN IN WHITE OBCR

It would be lovely to have Michael Ball's Fosco preserved on cd, but, like the rest of you, I tend to think it isn't going to happen.

But I would love to be proven wrong! re: WOMAN IN WHITE OBCR

I would want it for Michael Ball's interpretation, and to see what changes Andrew did. He always changes his shows up. I hope they record it, even if it's just a highlights album, I'll get it.

re: WOMAN IN WHITE OBCR

I was so mad when I heard Maria Friedman sing all pretty in the part where she has to belt "I don't believe a word everything he utters is a lie (she did that part fine but after that when she sings) IIIIII WILL LIVE TO RIIIIGHT THIISSS WROOOOOONG!!"

SHe sung it all light and stuff and I heard her live, and it was NOT like that. THat si the only reason I bought the CD and got that crap. I hope they do make one and that she sings it with POWER this time.

Just my opinion.

I work for the marketing company that handles "woman in white" and yes, an OBCR will be out sometime in january or februrary

Ohhh I've never heard any of the music from WIW so I'm excited for this show to surprise me!

but the OLCR is live too... except for the ends of songs apparently... maybe they rerecorded it differently... than what was done on opening night when the CD was recorded.

Interesting! That surprises me.
I have the OLCR, which I absolutely love, and I'm not sure it would be worth it to buy the OBCR considering most of the cast is the same.

re: WOMAN IN WHITE OBCR

Yeah, i got the OLC cause I didn't think the show would be rerecorded. Hopefully Webber didn't tinker with the show too much, it was basically perfection. As long as "evermore without you" is there, i'll be happy. But doubt id buy the OBC. I hate having multiple recordings of the same show. seems like a waste.

re: WOMAN IN WHITE OBCR

Actually only three of the London cast on the CD will be in the Broadway production -- Maria Friedman, Jill Paice and Angela Christian. The actors playing the other principals -- Walter, Glyde, Mr. Fairlie and Fosco -- are new.

re: WOMAN IN WHITE OBCR

Yeah, but so many broadway transfers havne't been rerecorded. Like phantom & cats? Or did they? I think cats had a highlights album.
#15

re: WOMAN IN WHITE OBCR

Cats has both a London cast recording and a Broadway cast recording. not to mention a fabulous Australian cast recording ... mmm... none, however, feature the score in it's entirety despite being labeled as "complete original Broadway cast recording" and so fourth... I suppose it's complete as in that's all they recorded, but none of them have every song or musical section. the Australian cast recording came close as it is the only one of the three "official" English recordings to feature "The Peeks and the Pollicles", but for whatever reason they coped out on act two and left out quite a few things...

"Yeah, but so many broadway transfers havne't been rerecorded. Like phantom & cats?"

True, which is why I didn't think the Broadway cast would be recorded. The Broadway Phantom also only had three main cast members from the London production.

However, wasn't the Phantom OLCR made available in the U.S. around the same time it was sold in London? I seem to recall listening to it a lot before the show opened in NY. I believe the WiW OLCR was released in the U.S. in May of this year, but I don't know how well it has sold.

I too would love to have Michael Balls far superior Fosco preserved on cd. Not sure if it will happen though, but ALW certainly can get away with anything!!

I'd love a Broadway cast recording, too.

Many Michael Ball and Ron Bohmer fans would like one. And I would be curious to hear Adam Brazier on a recording, too.

I, too, would love a Broadway cast recording. This is excellent news.

re: WOMAN IN WHITE OBCR

I cant imagine a second 2 cd set of the OBC (even PHANTOM, arguably the most popular show ever didn't even get that) but I suppose I could buy into the idea of an OBC highlights disc. I'm still skeptical though...

re: WOMAN IN WHITE OBCR

I'll believe it when I see it. Technically, the last Lloyd Webber Broadway cast recording was the first act of Song and Dance in 1985. The Joseph revival and Sunset Boulevard were L.A. casts that transferred to Broadway, and there was a Joseph revival, Sunset Boulevard (highlights) and By Jeeves recordings from Canada. And the disastrous and inexplicable American studio recording of Starlight Express that coincided with the Broadway production. But Lloyd Webber has not actually produced "Broadway" cast recording in 20 years.

As long as it has Michael Ball singing "You Can Get Away With Anything," I'll take it! re: WOMAN IN WHITE OBCR

re: WOMAN IN WHITE OBCR

Hey, I was hoping for a recording of Patience. But I think it would be great to hear his take on Fosco.

re: WOMAN IN WHITE OBCR

Phantom and Miss Saigon didn't receive cast recordings on Broadway because the leads were the same, and the changes to the shows at the time didn't justify a second recording. Sunset Boulevard had significant changes AND an entirely different cast, thereby justifying a new recording.

re: WOMAN IN WHITE OBCR

As the male leads are all different to the OLC recording I hope it happens.I would be great to have Michael Balls Fosco on a recording better than Michael Crawfords in my opinion a more rounded character (no punn intended).
