Wow I just read some of the grosses, and some are lower than usual. 42nd Street sold about 59% of its tickets. Chicago is down to almost 67%. Movin' Out is almost 66%. Rent is 56%.

The current grosses were depressing..
Rent is slowly dying...
I am sad to see Chicago so low, they had a really great success with Paige Davis this summer, and that helped grosses soooo much. So I think once Wayne Brady joins the cast next month, we will see a jump in grosses.

You can be as crass and jealous as you want of WT, but get this into your heads--if Assassin hadn't won Best Revival, WT would have--even over the acclaimed Big River. LSOH wasn't even nominated and while WT may have bored you, thousands upon thousands who have seen the show have absolutely praised it, so give up your tireless crusade. I'm quite glad it is still open in spite of your nastiness.

You are ridiculous! the Tonys didn't hate LSOH. They hated a mediocre production of LSOH. Big difference. Believe me--LSOH is one of my favorite all-time musicals. It was rightly bested by 4 others. GET OVER IT. YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO YOUR OPINION, BUT NOT WHEN IT IS NASTY.

I wasn't being nasty...I simply said "And LSOH closes..." I never actually stated in this post about WT deserving to close because of how good or bad the show is. Obviously, if you look at the grosses, it isn't doing well...almost 48% capacity isn't that great. I mean, it's up to the producers what they want to do with the show, if they don't mind losing the money. And at the rate WT is going at now, if they think that it could survive the winter months, so be it.
And please tell me that typing in caps isn't being nasty.

Actually, I think Big River would have won over Assassins. That is, if the Weisslers weren't giving WT a huge marketing push.
