WORST MOVIE CASTING IDEAS

Over the past four years that I have been coming onto this board I have read countless posts about movie musical cast ideas and some of which are serious (or rumored), to me sound ridiculous, what are the worst ideas you have ever read?

For me some are:
Nicole Kidman- Glinda
Liza as Norma
Johnnny Depp- Fieyro

What are some of the worst casting ideas past or present that you have heard/read about?

This wasn't movie casting, this was broadway casting.

Idina Menzel as Elphaba & Kristin Chenoweth as Glinda. It would be the same disaster as Rent.

Meryl Streep as Donna Sheridan
Pierce Brosnan as Sam
Amanda Sigfried as Sophie Sheridan
what's his name as Sky

and any of the above in any movie that's a musical

I'm sure it's been said before, but the all time horror of Lucille Ball in "Mame," AKA "Maimed," takes the cake. She could not sing a note (almost all her previous movie singing had been dubbed), and she had zero charm and youthful vigor. Angela Lansbury or Doris Day would have been fabulous but Lucy got the part, not only ending her movie career but almost single-handedly killing the genre of movie musicals for quite some time.

Yeah, well over a half billion dollar box office and a Grammy nominated number one Platinum selling soundtrack later, I wouldn't quit your day job for being a casting agent any day soon.

Commercial success..artistic mess.

Hey, it happens. I wonder what it would have been like if they'd bothered to cast singers instead of people who "can sing".

I prefer the movie because at least its campy fun. The stage show doesn't even have the "hot mess" factor going for it.
