I still think it's very wrong that if you only speak English, in America that there are now many everyday changes.

Apparently you don't speak English very well, either.

If your knowledge of French has not helped you understand Spanish, then you missed the entire point of studying a foreign language.

Lastly, don't go around making up statistics. You don't know that "half" of Spanish-speaking immigrants never intend to learn English. That's just ignorant to say.

Also, even if that statistic WAS correct, wouldn't that justify the Spanish in the revival all the more?

The thing is half the people who emigrate from Spanish speaking countries don't know English, and sometimes don't feel the need to learn it so I disagree, I live in a English speaking country... when I had to chance to learn a foreign language, I took French, never expecting to need to know Spanish. I still think it's very wrong that if you only speak English, in America that there are now many everyday changes.

What language is this? I can't make it out.

Again, if people are so worried about the spanish effing them up, see the movie or read it first! There's nothing wrong with suggesting one do research before a show if they are concerned they won't understand it.

They could also offer in the Playbill a brief explanation of the conflict that is expressed in Spanish. I mean, honestly, even if I didn't know WSS already, I could have figured out what was going on without the surtitles. Perhaps if they were projected the way Baz Luhrmann used them in La Boheme, they wouldn't be so distracting.

I think they should get rid of the surtitles, especially when they display the original English language text and are not literal translations and take a cue from Light in the Piazza and you know, trust the audience' intelligence. If they have to have the screens with surtitles, at least place them differently.
