I'm currently considering directing a production of Waiting for Lefty as an environmental theatre piece in my university's black box. I was just curious as to different concepts that people have seen/heard of regarding this play and whether they worked or not.

Posted: 9/4/06 at 1:59ami haven't ever seen a production of this but i got Clifford Odet's book with all his plays in it after seeing Awake & Sing! and this play was really awesome. good luck!

Thanks. I think it's sad that so many poeple consider it outdated. Much of it pertains to the 1930s, but it speaks of a longing that transcends ages, as Odets puts it so eloquently in Awake and Sing: "I don't want a life printed on dollar bills"
