She was great, and very entertaining.
VERY different take on the number than DeCarlo and Bergen (both of whom I loved!) It was a bit too peppy, but there was no doubt that she meant every word. She really did live that life. That was a better production than made it to broadway...in my opinion.

I believe I'm the only one that did not enjoy Ms. Miller's performance of the song. I much prefer Bergen, DeCarlo and even Carol Burnett from the Lincoln Center recording, particularly Bergen & Burnett. Does anyone know off-hand who performed "Rain on the Roof," "Ah Paris," & "Broadway Baby" on the OLCR? I very much like these versions more so than others, particularly "Ah Paris"--it's got a zaniness that makes me laugh...although Jane White's version from the 2001 revival was wonderful as well.

I consider the evening I spent at Paper Mill's FOLLIES to be one of the greatest evenings I have ever spent in a theatre. Amazing cast! As far as Miss Ann Miller she is the only person I can see in my head doing that number justice. She did live through all that and she was a legend. It gave an air of authenticity to the role that I've never witnessed before. I cannot imagine how anyone couldn't just wet themselves after she finished "I'm Still Here."

In London, Maria Charles (the original Dulcie in THE BOY FRIEND) sang "Ah, Paree!", Margaret Courtenay ("42nd St", Vera in MAME with Ginger Rogers) sang "Broadway Baby", and husband-and-wife variety act Pearl Carr and Teddy Rogers sang "Rain on The Roof".

I'll always love Yvonne de Carlo doing I'm Still Here, even with that particularly sharp note at the end.

Didn't Yvonne de Carlo flub the lyrics on the David Frost Show?
It was long ago that a friend showed me the tape and I seem to remember her singing "I should have gone to an acting school that seems clear" twice.

After the LA season of Follies back in 1972, Yvonne de Carlo came to Australia to appear in No, No, Nanette (she succeeded Cyd Charise). In the show an extra dance number was put in for Cyd, so when Yvonne came into the show they were looking for a number for her to sing.She was determined to do her big number from Follies, fortunately in the end she sang not I'm Still Here but More Than You Know (Youmans).However apparently it took some convincing!

ANYWAYS. I too was at Stagedoor Manor this summer and was actually introduced to the show there, with 'Waiting For the Girls Upstairs' and 'Mirror Mirror'...gorgeous songs, and now I'm madly in love with the score.

Can Sondheim do no wrong? (Other than Bounce...)
