War Horse seating question

What are the 100 and 500 level seats like for this particular show? I sat in the 100's for South Pacific once and it was fine, but I'm wondering if you'd miss a lot in this particular production. For the dates I'm trying to go, that's all their offering with the discount code.

Is there even a chance they might release better seats closer to the show, or should I just grab a seat before it's sold out?

I've got the same question, adam. I just keep putting off and putting off buying tickets and now that it seems like there aren't any really really "good" seats, I might opt out of the and see something else entirely. Right now, the only way to get very good seats is to go on newyorkcitytheatre.com and pay through the nose :-/

Also -- and bear in mind that I'm basing this off no valid information whatsoever, except the assumption that the show is probably going to sell out every performance in advance -- I have the feeling they're not holding any seats back during presale.

They're currently offering me seat 513, which according to the seating chart, seems to be practically in the wings.

I'm not sure it's worth the $95, but there may not be tickets available at all soon, based on how it's selling right now.

Also just checked yesterday and rush is nonexistent at the moment, though that seems pretty obvious based on how it's been selling.

I was in O104 last night and thought it was a great seat. Pretty close to center. I always forget that there's not really a bad seat in the Beaumont, and I think every different seat has something cool to see. The show is blocked well for the space. I know it's not possible at the moment to be choosey, but I think an ideal seat would be in the 400s on the center-right aisle...maybe keep that in mind for when the subscribers aren't taking all the seats!

Hi everyone. I will be heading up to NYC in January over the long MLK weekend and this is one of two shows I do want to buy advance tickets for (also bought Book of Mormon tix). Being so far out, it is pulling up Row A center, but for this show, do you think that is too close? It is pulling up Row J center for the AMEX seats. Any thoughts on which would be better? Thanks in advance.

While I have never been in the front row....most folks will tell you that there is not a bad seat in the theater.

That being said, it does seem a bit close for spectacle of the show.

(FYI...I'm seeing both Warhorse and BOM next Saturday -- cant' wait.)

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I was in Row B in the 500s, and I didn't feel like I was too close (though I had to resist the urge to pat the horse when he went by on the aisle... I did resist that urge successfully, though!). There is a lot of "spectacle" to this show, but it's also very intimate. They use the space very well. I'd say go for it.

Dramamama, can't wait to hear what you think of it!

We were in row B in the 100s, one seat away from the wall. The way the seats are arranged, B is front row at that point. Even being so far over and so close, it was a great view. And the goose shed some feathers on us! I think this is one show where, despite the unconventially shaped stage, you shouldn't worry about getting a bad seat.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I ended up going with Row J (my Mom was not thrilled with the idea of front row). Anyway, can't wait to see it in January. Still have two more slots to fill, so we'll see what else opens by then (or what shows out now are still playing). Those of you going next Saturday, enjoy!

I was in L101 and the seat was GREAT. I have been in all sections in orchestra over the years (from the 100s to the 500s) and (for Light in the Piazza) was in front row in the 100s. At first seating, you think you got a lousy seat, but they seem to work the staging around the seating and you have good views for some action and okay views for others.

With this theater and the smaller Mitzi Newhouse Theater, there really are no bad seats. But, if you are concerned about side seats, it is best to select a seat in the three middle sections or the inner aisle on the outer sections (like my L101 - a GREAT seat). One note on this, the first row in the 200 section had an odd light fixture or something that caused the smaller stature woman in the aisle seat a little upset (she asked for a booster seat but then chucked it before the show started).

Also for those still getting tickets, the aisle between sections 400 and 500 is used to get the horse off and back on the stage during the performance. Would be cool to have that "animal" go past you to get a good up close view of it (and you DO forget it is a puppet after the first few minutes).

GREAT SHOW, very theatrical and moving even if it is a little too sentimental (IMHO).
