That character got booted along with other important characters such as: John Adams, James Monroe, John Barker Church, and John Jay. Oy vey, there were a lot of Johns.

I'm happy you appreciate humor! Thank you so much for telling me that.
Looks like it.
Also, I must have missed the inflamed posts from PalJoey and Ray the first time (particularly Ray). To this I say to both of you: lighten up. Using words like 'vicious', 'twist', 'bullsh!t' is so over the top it's unbelievable. This was a post with the only purpose of a passing thought that Karen was very well suited to a role and I wonder if it was offered to her originally. The fact that the song apparently was written for her and she was just cast in Chicago doesn't help that thought go away. No where does it pretend to actually know any real story - it's simply a passing thought that I haven't even thought about again until now. These overreactions are one reason this place is becoming less pleasant to participate in. It should just be a bit of fun.
Is it a better story that two talented women of colour have done well with Lin's work PalJoey? Yes maybe. If you want to express that idea why don't you go and create your own thread because it has nothing to do with this one.
I do think the role is perfect for Olivo, but to my knowledge she has never played the role in any formal incarnation of the show (meaning workshop, reading, etc. It's certainly possible that Miranda had her, like, come over and sing a song). Anika Noni Rose played the part prior to Renee, at the Vassar presentation three years ago, and I believe Mandy Gonzalez sang it at the Lincoln Center concert in 2012.
Isn't she playing Angelica in the Chicago production?

There is a recording of Anika singing "Satisfied" floating around on tumblr. Obviously, it's a little rough since it was a workshop performance, but there is no doubt that she would be absolutely stunning in the role on Broadway (or in one of the other upcoming productions).
[whoops - ignore]
