But what do we want her in? A revival or an original role in a new show?
Aretha would love to be in a Broadway show

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

Somebody said Aretha sounds like a wounded animal. Can't remember who it was.

I'm surprised the Weisslers never tapped her to play Mama Morton. Or maybe they did and she said no...

Anyone recall how when Aretha attended a performance of FELA! and learned what she was expected to do nightly, she nixed it!

As someone who has worshipped at the altar of Aretha since puberty (How bleak was my puberty!!!), all I can say to that the idea of Miss Aretha Franklin appearing 6-8 times a week, basically carrying (or actually carrying) a Broadway musical is that if she truly agrees to such (and SIGNS) well then, you can knock me ovah with a featha-boah!

In pondering the idea a bit more, I could only envision her taking on August Wilson's MA RAINEY. She might well be amazing in that role.

Can't imagine she could do it 8x a week. But perhaps a limited run of the musical RAISIN. Would be great to hear that score live.
