Laura is always upset about missing shows
and she is always missing shows
I love Benati's voice and acting and looks.
But she needs to look into other venues than an
8 show a week one.
I believe she may be ill
but C'mon
Ok
Blast me now and bury me later.
but look at the record.
Hillary Duffs record will prob'ly be just as bad.

She's not exactly "sick". She has some vocal-related issues. I'd rather she be out now and get it fixed than have her risk permanently damaging her voice.
I understand ripping on people for bad attendance records when they don't always have good reason, but you can't fault someone for something completely out of their control.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride.
I love you because I know no other way than this.

Cara is AMAZING!!! I personally think she is fabulous and the best dancer on broadway! I adore her.
and Tina...I would not be upset if I only saw her in the role every time I saw the show (although I DO want to see Christina!!!)
The understudies for this show are AMAZING and personally I don't think they should be understudies! They are talented enough to be leads!!

Me too! I bet she'd be fantastic.

First off, if you're going to rip into someone, at least spell their name right.
Second of all, if it's beyond her control, you shouldn't bother. That's just rude.

"if it's beyond her control..."
The problem is, we don't really know, and she's earned a reputation for missing shows. Check the early TWS threads; it was predicted!
Maybe it's all coincidental or bad luck, or something else, but most other leads just don't miss as many shows.
And whether it's medical or psychological or both, it appears habitual and that's bad for her, producers and audiences. Who wants to cast the actor who always gets sick and misses a lot of performances? Or is a diva?

I do know, and this is definitely beyond her control. I don't know specifically about past shows, so I won't say I know for sure about any of that, but she's had problems in the past, mostly starting with her neck injury during Into the Woods.
The woman is anything but a diva.

I saw this show for full price in May/June and both Benanti and Spanger were out as well.
I LOVED LOVED LOVED Tina Madigan and Cara Cooper and could not have imagined the parts being played any better. I saw Tina Madigan in the pre-Broadway version of Mama Mia in SF and she is perky and a GREAT talent. Although I love Laura Benanti, I think that role is not a good fit. Madigan is more similar to Drew Barrymore and I loved the movie.
DO NOT BE DISAPPOINTED if you hear that the understudies are playing for these leads.

seriously, judging by the fact that I've NEVER heard one single bad thing about Laura from stagedoor stories (I've only ever heard that she is SOOO incredibly sweet and wonderful), and by the fact that she DOES come out to stagedoor a LOT when she is there, I highly HIGHLY doubt that she is missing shows because she's a diva and doesn't want to be there. If she was a diva, she wouldnt stay long amounts of time after shows just to appease fans, and she wouldn't be as nice as she is. She's been sick a lot.. she cant help that, and its pretty unfair that so many people are critisizing her for it. Some people just naturally dont have great immune systems, and even when they do take care of themselves they get sick pretty easily. I know I get sick a lot too. AND she's had the neck problems. No I really dont know much about it, but I can def imagine that, her having BROKEN her neck, she might still be having some reprocutions of it and that might contribute to her being out so often. And that is obviously COMPLETELY out of her control. So yeah, I just felt the need to defend laura cause I def do NOT think she seems like the type of person who would just not show up for a show because she didn't feel like it

From someone who knows Laura very will, I will say what DrunkyMcWasted said: Laura is not a diva. She does NOT wanting to be missing these performances. I hear from her all the time how upset she is with being sick.
CurtainPullDowner, last I heard from her it was not nodes. It's something else, but not something that I'm going to say without her permission. If Laura wants people to know beyond her friends, she can tell them. It's not my place to say.
Laura's been through some rough health spots. She's still doing performances, but on a very limited basis until she gets better. What's wrong with her is personal information and nothing that I would post on here, but I will say that it's nothing she should be fooling around with and her limited performance amount is something she's not happy with but most definately needed for the time being.
Give her a break, guys. She's trying to get better as soon as possible.
And yes, I adore both Tina and Cara. I LOVE to see Cara go on, and every now and then I'll go see Tina go on because she's an absolute sweetheart.

Posted: 8/3/06 at 4:52pmDrunkyMcWasted, it's not a "vocal injury"... it's not even an injury. She's having some health problems that are causing vocal difficulty. So, on doctor's order, she is working her way back into the 8-show schedule very slowly while treatment continues.

I know, hon. I was trying to think of how to phrase it without sharing info that I didn't think I should be, as you said.
You do remember who this is, right? :P

*worries about laura* that doesn't sound good... I hope she feels much better really really soon!! being sick sucks.. big time.. especially when its serious, as this seems to be. But anyway yeah... she just better get better soon :)
and for the record, I reallly really enjoyed tina! I havn't seen laura yet,but II'm hoping to soon, but from what I've *seen* I love her even MORE than tina!! hehe, but tina is really adorable and soooo sweet, so its all good

All I have to say is that if Laura wanted everyone to know what was going on, everyone would know. That is obviously not the case, so leave her alone! Take what information IS given, and back off. Jeez.
I do hope she feels better. Being sick is no fun.

I agree, overthemoon. I love Tina, but I think she has MORE chemistry with Richard H. Blake than with Stephen...
And dancing, thank you for saying that and helping to keep her privacy. I appreciate that.
