Ok-I like the Wedding Singer, in fact I like it a lot. The best thing about it is the score. When I saw a preview two weeks ago, there was a catchy 80's themed pop number called, "Right On Time" that Julia sings at the beginning. She even had a reprise of the song in Act 2. When I left the theater, I wasn't humming "It's Your Wedding Day" (demo version is better than the revised show version) or "Saturday Night in the City" (both of which are excellent numbers), I was humming "Right on Time". For two weeks I caught myself humming the tune "Right on Time, da da da..."and I told people the CD was worth buying just for that number alone when it's released June 6th. I got let down when I saw the show again last night (April 25th)when I discoverd "Right on Time" was replaced by some mediocre number called, "Someday". Ugh! What a shame! "Right on Time" was the cutest number in the show. Not the best number, but the cutest and very catchy. I spoke to a few other people who had seen the show a few times and they said they were dissapointed the number was changed as well. With opening night two days away, it's unlikely the number will be miraculously put back in, but I hope it will at least be a 'bonus track' on the cd. Sorry for the rant, but it's such a shame....That's show biz I guess Wedding Singer cuts

Right on Time was indeed cut....oddly, it's still listed as part of the Opening Night song list in the Playbill.

I love that song, wish it was back in the show.

Someday has grown on me though.

Right on Time is listed in the Opening Night Playbill (at least the one's they've been giving out at the theater over the last week)

Which is why I got one at the show last week....and one at History Boys at the 2nd preview, and at Hot Feet on Saturday....

They give them out about a week or so in advance.

I saw the show last night, 'Right On Time' has been replaced with 'Someday'.. Laura said it was cut for a more dramatic effect during that part of the show. I thought it was amazing and it needs to be back in.

Depending on the show, they still give out "opening night" playbills up to a week before, and up to a week after the actual opening night. It all depends on how many they have.

Well is STILL giving out opening night ones. A friend went to the show the other day and got one, from March.

I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking the song deserves to be in the show :) I can see why they may have wanted a dramatic effect, but it's Julia's introduction and "Right On Time" (at least I thought) gave the character a purpose and a heart in that happy 80's pop way. I thought it was very clever to combine both the elements of good character development with the 80's infused theme of the show. Also, it kept the audience interested right after the high energy "It's Your Wedding Day". The transition just worked.

Personally, I think "Someday" fits the character a little better than Right on Time, however I think the latter was a better song...if that makes sense. An ensemble friend of mine was asking me what I thought of the changes made during the week and change that lapsed between seeing the song, and I told him that Someday was a better character song, but Right on Time was a better song overall, and he agreed and said that's what everyone backstage was thinking as well.

Don't necessarily know what that means in regards to the fate of the song...but if the cast loves the song enough, maybe it'll make it onto the cast recording, a la Spelling Bee and their cut song?

I've only seen "Someday". I really wish I had heard "Right on Time". Is there a copy of it somewhere that I can listen to? Legally of course re: Wedding Singer cuts 'Right On Time'? !

I thought the "Right on Time" number was very cute and catchy as well, but I can understand them making a cut. How have they handled the reprises that happen later in the show though?

In dealing with the reprises for "Right on Time", Robbie sings a reprise of the song (comes out of nowhere!) in his bedroom before he's off to his wedding with Linda, but in the Playbill as of 4/24, he's suppose to sing a reprise of "Someday". In Act 2, Julia's reprise of "Right on Time" was changed to "Someday" but it wasn't even listed in the Playbill. It must have been changes made over the weekend/Monday before Playbill could update. In all fairness, I'd like to hear "Someday" again and give it a better listen, but I think a lot of us agree that "Right On Time" was a much better song in general. If the cast likes the song, maybe there's some hope it won't be lost for the recording :) After all, Boy from Oz, Hairspray, and Little Shop all had bonus tracks :) If anyone sees the show on or shortly after opening, please let us know of any final changes! Thanks :)

Honey, there will be no bonus track. The song is history. This isn't Hollywood. They haven't even opened yet. They want to sell *this* show, not the one with the number that was cut. There is no logic behind adding "Right on Time" as a bonus track to the people that took it out in the first place.

Not true they could put out a special dvd on the making of the play and show us people singing this song!

I wish I could sing.

I happen to be friends with Laura, and have met Matthew Sklar quite a few times. Both of them are sad to see RIGHT ON TIME, as are all of us, but the new song works much better dramatically and trust me in saying that Matt and the rest of the creative time has made the right choice. The opening of the show flows much more smoothly now.

Foster, RIGHT ON TIME is NOT gone. Not only just us love the song, but so did Matthew Sklar. In response to me telling him that I missed it, he said "We all miss it too!" Matt also said that there's a very good possibility that it'll be a bonus track. So don't be so sure, Foster.

Spelling Bee added "Why we Like Spelling" just for the hell of it...Pretty much the same situation, good song, but didn't quite have a place in the show...
