Hunter Parrish, Silas Botwin on Showtime's WEEDS, will join the Broadway company of SPRING AWAKENING as Melchior on August 18.

Very cute stunt casting.
Hope he can sing.
We've been hearing about this for over 6 months now before it was officially announced that Jonathan Groff was leaving.
The best thing they can do for that show is keep pumping new blood into it.
LOVE Hunter Parrish.
LOVE Weeds.
But don't love him enough to see SPRING AWAKENING for a third time....
Anyone know who is going to perform the role in the interim? Riabko's last performance is August 2.
Jesse Swenson? Matt Shingledecker? Matt Doyle?
Does Matt Doyle even cover the role anymore? My most recent Playbill lists Swenson and Matt Shingledecker as the Melchior covers.
^ Matt Doyle still covers Melchior. It hasn't been announced who will be covering the two weeks in between Kyle and Hunter. I really hope it'll be Matt D though.
Didn't Kyle JUST start doing it?? I feel like Jonathan Groff left yesterday! Why would he be leaving so soon to do the tour?
He's gorgeous! Congrats to him.
And here's my reason to revisit the show!
"Didn't Kyle JUST start doing it?? I feel like Jonathan Groff left yesterday! Why would he be leaving so soon to do the tour? "
It was always intended that Riabko would just be filling the gap between Groff and Parrish. Riabko was always supposed to be heading up the tour.
OHHH i see...ok that makes more sense then. thanks for clearing that up! SA is not a show I follow very much, so I had no idea about Kyle...well then good for both of them!
I was kind of hoping for an unknown; don't know why. I'm sure Hunter will do fine.
He is pretty fantastic in WEEDS, I hope I'm able to catch him in this.
Hunter wasn't even sure he would be doing up until last week. He said on Chelsea Lately that he was being offered a role on Broadway (the name wasn't given) & he didn't if for sure he was doing it.

Oh man, I totally did not even pick up on that! I remember them mentioning Broadway briefly... that was a great episode too.
I thought he was going to create a role, but when I saw this I figured this was it.

I heard him mention it on Chelsea Lately and I put two and two together.
I adore Weeds and he is great on it. I just hope he can sing
Okay, he's extremely pretty, but he's easily the worst thing about WEEDS (when he's speaking and/or acting), and while it will be nice to glimpse his ass on stage, I shudder at what he'll do with the ripe-for-overacting-potential role of Melchior.

matt doyle is covering in between
Actually, Matt Doyle just posted this in his blog:
To quickly diffuse a rumor, there are no set dates for any of the three Melchior covers this summer. We play things by ear and there is no guarantee that I will be going on for Melchior during July or the time between Kyle Riabko's departure and Hunter Parrish's debut. I promise I will post a blog if I have any set dates.
