As much as I love the show I hate the way Weinstein acted and I still don't think he regrets anything, because he has Nick Jonas and that Kiesza person presenting/performing(the article I read didn't specify)

For those who think the show was snubbed, what specifically would you remove from a category to include Finding Neverland. It's easy to say a show was snubbed, but saying that means that another show shouldn't have gotten nominated, and from where I stand most, if not all of the nominations, were well-deserved and expected. "

Scenic Design instead of Fun Home

Laura Michelle Kelly for Best Actress in a Musical instead of Leanne Cope

possibly Best Score instead of Last Ship (haven't seen that one so I can't really judge)

Kelsey Grammer for Best Featured Actor instead of Brandon Uranowitz.

But it's certainly not the only snubbed show. Honeymoon is another show that was unfairly shut out completely. They should have been in there for Best Actor (instead of Ken Wantanabe) for example. But I feel like that's a different topic.

I'm not saying Harvey Fierstein was right with his "accusation" that the performances last year had anything to with Neverland being shut out. But I do think there is a huge political aspect to the Tonys, and I would believe that he didn't help his case by the way he approached the community. But don't think the show is as terrible as people say for the reasons given in my last post. And I do think that it would have deserved some recognition in terms of nominations (even if not in actual winning any awards)

A complete shut out for a show that is still running feels political to me.  It certainly takes something away from the awards for me.

Honeymoon in Vegas is a closed show.  That seems less political and more about business to me. That is still not a great reason to completely shut out a show, but I'd rather it be about business than politics.

I do wonder if the Tony award is genuinely the most prestigious award in the industry, or if it is only perceived as such because it is the only one that gets any real amount of media attention. Perhaps it is time for a change. Maybe we should start giving the Drama Desk award more credence.

The Drama Desk lost all credibility with this year's nominations. Regardless, all awards are awards and certain people choose who gets them while the rest of us watch. If awards mattered the most, open-ended run shows wouldn't open in the fall. Theatre is an art, but it is also a business, and if a show can sell based on Tonys or other awards, great for them. If Harvey thinks that other strategies will make him more money, regardless of how the theatre community will see him, that's his choice[and he can speculate the causes of the consequences however he chooses].
